Most of us feel we need the services of a striker who will deliver 25 goals plus per season. None of us seem to know who that would be. Anyone name a player we can afford who would play for us and achieve such stats?

Derry Tim suggests Maurice Johnstone.

I reckon Miovski would easily score that amount if you include his penalties.

{Ed007's Note - "The best since Larsson" only managed to score more than 20 goals once out his 3 full seasons.}

Might be a doubler but someone texted me as I was about to send post and nearly shat myself and don't think it went through.4 leaf . hard to guarantee someone will score that amount . but I suggested arokadore and bertachinni in Belgium looked them up again after I near soiled myself and seen arokadore is valued £14million and bertachinni joined anderlecht . I liked the look of francalino dju and osario of midtyland. fw rw respectively . and I would test hibs with a bid for Bowie as he looks a very promising player.

A Pincer movement double act of Vardy and Patrick Bamford. Unstoppable ?.

We would hope a club as big as Celtic, with all our resources had a recruitment team in place with a network of scouts and contacts to identify suitable targets and candidates for key positions. However, maybe they're looking at this post '4 leaf' for suggestions?

You would think so Celtic mad. but 7 centre backs in 5 year (ish) and still nowhere near a settled nevermind great partnership.

The worst Kyogo did was 19 goals altogether in Brendan’s first season, apart from 12 in his half season when he was sold.
You’re right Ed.
Kyogo got over 20 league goals only One time, when we done the treble under Ange with 27 league goals.

{Ed007's Note - ?? And I have no doubt that Adam Idah would have scored 25+ goals this season if he had been our No.1 pick at ST all season he got 20 playing mostly as back up.}

I agree Buzz, Miovski would be a cracking signing!

Idah does have a really good goals per minute ratio for Celtic.

I was one of the few who suggested on this forum that we should have signed both Miovski and Idah last season, as I thought they offered something different to one another and both could be a success.

I also appreciate there are supporters who believe we overpaid for Idah, approx £9M, when 'reports' at the time suggested the fee would be around the £5M/ £6M mark.

You may also recall there was apparently a buy out clause for Bernardo of £6M (as part of his loan deal) and we got him for closer to £3M.

Therefore, IMO, at these figures, it's swings and roundabouts - small change given what we've wasted on past projects, whilst, it pales compared to the huge profits we've made in recent seasons from our player signing model.

I thought when we punted Kyogo in January, giving Idah the opportunity to be the starting striker, he'd seize that chance and he still might.

Perhaps he's a better player of the bench when the opposition defence is tired or demotivated, as an 'impact' player?

Whatever the scenario, he's still only 24, he's never been a starter and he'll score goals, but right now he's not a player, for me, who can be relied upon, game in - game out, especially if the game/ result rests on getting that winning goal.

I read last week of the amount of times we hit the post, the bar and so on against St. Mirren, but until there's a rule change, that counts for nothing, putting the ball in the back of the net is all that matters - then there's no debate, no argument.

We need to sign a proven goal scorer, a 'poacher', a 'fox in the box', call him what you will.

I'm pretty sure BR knows this and someone else coming in might take some of the pressure off Adam.

Time will tell.

If Idah had scored last week, where he was slightly unlucky not too, there would be less talk of replacing him. Give the bhoy a few games fgs.

It appears Idah isn’t serious about being a professional athlete or he wouldn’t have got sick over a taxi seat . Worse was his excuse, he seemed to think it was ok he was on a night off . Thank God I am not the Celtic Manager or we would have one striker less .
