Today we have the chance to win our ninth treble. That is absolutely incredible and should be met with nothing but pride and celebration. We are witnessing something truly historic, something no other club in Scotland has come close to matching. This kind of success does not come around by accident. It comes from hard work, resilience and a winning mentality that runs deep through the club.

The term "tedious treble" is nothing more than a bitter attempt to downplay our dominance. Let's be honest, the only folk who find it tedious are the Sevco supporters who have had to watch us lift trophy after trophy while they scrap about in our shadow. If they were winning trebles, you can be sure they would not be calling them tedious. They would be printing DVDs and holding street parties, with plenty of blue on blue action.

We should never let anyone make us feel like this level of success is normal or dull. It is not. It is the result of a club that sets standards and keeps meeting them. Winning trebles is not tedious, it is what happens when you are miles ahead of the rest and have a squad and a support that expects and demands excellence.

So enjoy it if it comes. Celebrate it. Let them moan while we lift another cup. All they have is celebrating our losses, so let's make sure they have nothing.

Spot on Weejoe. I see Matthew Lindsay ‘chief football editor’ for the Herald has a headline this morning saying Aberdeen can land a blow for the Scottish game and end Celtic’s dominance today!
Can you imagine such a headline if Sevco were in our position!
What a warped and spiteful wee country we live in. Our success should be celebrated and admired, and would be in any other country.

24 May 2025 11:43:26
Exactly Rogician, there are many in the establishment and SMSM who loathe us and they cannot cope with our dominance over them.

24 May 2025 11:51:52
Only thing to stop us today is COMPLACENCY.

Every trophy we win always casts my mind back to wee Fergus being booed and the abuse he took but yet he stuck to his guns and was determined in his plan for club. You reap the rewards of the seeds you sow. He's on the mount rushmore of Celtic legends maybe even at the peak himself. So for one more " hail hail the Celts are here" Mon the Hoops!

{Ed007's Note - And so the rewriting of history continues. Looking back yes what Fergus done by getting the stadium built etc was fantastic but he had some monumental feck ups while he was here, the appointments of Peter McLean and Jock Brown, making & breaking promises to numerous players, the Wim Jansen fiasco and his biggest lie was to us, the support - Fergus McCann promised us, the support that the Club would never be in control of one single man/family again and yet look where we are.
Why did Peter Lawwell get crucified for interfering with the footballing department for years & he was rightfully blamed for Rodgers leaving but McCann is a hero for doing the exact same thing that ended with Wim Jansen - the manager who stopped their 10 - leaving after one season?
And Fergus McCann could teach Peter Lawwell ways to penny pinch that would make Arkwright blush!}

I am never over-confident before any game as I remember games like Feyenoord in 1970, The Jags in '71, Raith Rovers and ICT as well.
Aberdeen have nothing to lose and will be over-physical and aggressive, as we have seen already, so we have to use our class, determination and experience to win today.

24 May 2025 12:21:47
Fergus got us on a sound financial platform and Peter Lawwell is keeping us on a sound financial platform. I'm glad you mentioned Peter Lawwell though as he deserves huge credit for our recent and continued success!

{Ed007's Note - 3 trophies we won - out of 15 - while McCann was in control and 2 of them were won by Jansen, if McCann put us on a sound financial platform why did we need a long term Co-Op loan of £21m (£39m in today's money that was only paid off about 2/3 years ago) to fund MON when he came in?}

24 May 2025 12:44:10
I'm with you Ed, I hated Fergus at the time due to the things you mentioned. Also after we won the league he told us to put our money in and it would be invested in players but that did not happen and we crashed out of the Champions League qualifiers. Obviously looking back with hindsight I appreciate him saving the club and having the vision and conviction to rebuild the stadium.

{Ed007's Note - Remember his awful Bhoys Against Bigotry campaign that he basically forced Tommy Burns to endorse, a subject TB wrote about shortly before his death if I recall properly, or when he wanted to change our badge to include a thistle? When we moved back to Celtic Park from Hampden the amount of Pools Agents took a massive jump, McCann refused to sign off on overtime for the small group of women/girls in the office to deal with it.
There aren't many people who had dealings with McCann who left enamoured by him, especially "footballing men" who McCann had very little time for, for him the product on the park came a distant second to making money.}

24 May 2025 13:20:07
Yip. If we win today, let's enjoy it. Pile on the pain for them and the new clubs media base.
Savour these times. May we never take them for granted.

24 May 2025 13:29:05
Maybe to promise MON the funds to get him to join? You can't deny Fergus rescued and stabilized the club!

{Ed007's Note - 3 managers - 4 if you count Macari - and 3 trophies in 5 years isn't really stable imo.}

24 May 2025 14:06:43
Not sure Ed007 how you managed to change a chat about us not getting the recognition we deserve into a personal attack on the ‘wee bunnet’, but love him or loathe him their is no denying the significant role he has played in our unbroken history and success.
Lets now all cheer our lads to another treble this afternoon ?.

{Ed007's Note - It's no a personal attack though is it, it's giving factual evidence of what was happening at Celtic which a lot of the support seem to have forgotten, maybe they should read what guys like TB said about McCann.
What about McCann's treatment of Paul McStay, was that OK?}

24 May 2025 14:08:18
Although I will always remember us being saved from the brink of extinction and Wim Jansen turning things around on the park. I also remember the fiasco, friction and the fallout involving the appointments of Terry Cassidy and Jock Brown. I also recall ed; There was little respect for managers or players alike, with a lot of acrimony and low moral within the ranks and the support.

{Ed007's Note - Exactly mate and now people look back on it as if it was a world full of unicorns & rainbows with Fergus McCann leading the charge against the forces of evil whereas the reality was that the atmosphere behind the scenes was verging on toxic because of the way McCann treated people who he seen as beneath him, including managers & players.}

I think u are spot on Ed007 . Fergus tapped into a lot of good Celtic people, ( and some bad people who had only their own personal interest at heart, )
We needed a Fergal type person at that time to cut through nonsense and give us the stadium we are still proud of .

Maybe if Fergus had left then, we could possibly rightly view him as our saviour. However he stayed on and instead of appointing the best man available to lead our club to football greatness, despite knowing very little about the game he took it all on himself and basically did the opposite of what he heard .

He battled on and finally he got a successful manager and competent players but he wasn’t content and was primary responsible for manager leaving and team breaking up . Simply because he kept on running club without knowing about the game .

Having overseen the building of stadium, the next best thing he did was leave in a clean break, but that was years too later.

Celtic Mad . Very true, I think we need to score maybe even twice in the first half and continue dominating game right to the end preferably adding another goal or two . if we are to succeed with any comfort .

The longer the game continues with Aberdeen still in it, the less Aberdeen players have to lose . Certainly Robertson is likely to stay away from the ball and in his silliness to let play continue, Aberdeen players will relish their chance to land one on a Celtic player, time and time again.
