Anyone know anything about this 22 year old bhoy from Portugal we are looking at?

Wee1888

1.) 16 Jan 2017 22:32:55
He doesn't look particularly impressive on YouTube which is rare.

2.) 16 Jan 2017 23:49:21
Who is he?

02 Jan 2017 20:00:33
Ed have you had any information passed to yourself concerning any January signings? We done well last January with Paddy Roberts and Erik the Viking, another two signings of this quality in the window I would be happy.

Wee1888

{Ed001's Note - if you reply to this I will hold the message for Ed007, so he can give you what he knows as well, but, as he is not about at the moment I will give you what I know. That is that you are after a keeper, as you were in for Vito Mannone before Pickford picked up an injury. That deal is now gone for January, I would assume there will be other options being looked at, but I don't know who they are.}

1.) 03 Jan 2017 08:41:26
Glad to here that as personally think Mannone is a total bombscare.

21 Aug 2016 19:09:43
I see we are being linked with James McCarthy from Everton for £5 million.

Wee1888

1.) 21 Aug 2016 19:25:01
5 million! Aye right then. think u can add a 2 in front of the 5 and u mite be a bit closer to what he would cost!

2.) 21 Aug 2016 19:44:49
Saw that as well mate, stormed out yesterday apparently, 5 mill would b a steal.

3.) 21 Aug 2016 19:52:08
Appently he stormed out of the stadium after being subbed off yesterday and only has a year to run on his contract, will be on a fortune as a weekly wage but could happen if he wants to come back up the road.

4.) 21 Aug 2016 19:58:22
Has been told he's no place at Everton. Only playing just now covering for Coleman at right (wing) back because he's out.

5.) 21 Aug 2016 19:59:10
Sad that he was a player we could have bought for half of the 5 million years ago.

Just can't see this one but some great rumours the last few days.

6.) 21 Aug 2016 19:59:23
This rumour seems to be picking up a bit of momentum,
He is not getting on with Koemen by all accounts and left the stadium early after being subbed. Don't think we can afford him and is he what we need? I know he is a big big Celtic man so we would not need to convince him to come!

7.) 21 Aug 2016 20:07:12
Agree with him being a supporter part gaz just can't see him wanting to come back to scottish football at this early stage of his career can honestly see him ending up at someone like west ham we're arsenal not interested as well.

8.) 21 Aug 2016 20:33:31
Listen lads this ain't happening he is on 70K a week and if leaves Everton will have plenty of premiership teams chasing Arsenal being 1. Maybe in a few years he may come to Celtic but not now.

9.) 21 Aug 2016 20:49:35
He won't be short of offers if Everton do sell him! Either way I would expect him to be in the EPL next season.

10.) 21 Aug 2016 21:11:08
I think the closer we get to ten in a row we might attract bigger and bigger names.

11.) 21 Aug 2016 22:18:59
Not saying any of this is true but he's been in England for 7 years maybe he wants to come home and win trophies with the club he supports.

12.) 21 Aug 2016 21:22:23
He's on 50k per week and under contract until 2020. Nearly the whole Everton team are on 40/ 50k per week, except Barry and Lukaku who are on around 60 and 80k. He's been poor for over a year now, I've also never seen him having a good game for Ireland - even Keane and O'Neil have hinted he's not fit enough, and pulls out with knocks that proper players would play with. He was good initially under Martinez, Spurs etc were interested, like I said though he's done nothing since, he's also only really done it under Martinez! Why does Koeman not fancy him? The lad from Villa that just got relegated has walked straight into the team before him! For me he's decent all round but not great at anything. He's not physical like a Wanyama or Kante, he's not a great passer, and his goal scoring record is a disgrace! He's a 2 goal a season man! Most centre halfs score more than that!

13.) 21 Aug 2016 21:33:07
and why would bigger names be interested in ten in a row? It's CL football and massive wages the bigger players want! They don't care about 10 in a row!

14.) 21 Aug 2016 21:41:22
i don't think he will have lots of offers

his promise has diminished

he has not developed at a rapid rate

he is doing very well at £70k a week but i think it will be down hill from here

he won't be getting £70k elsewhere and I am prepared to bet on that

hes decent …noting more. nothing less…and also very slow for someone so young.

15.) 21 Aug 2016 22:42:07
This time tomorrow it will be Snodgrass. What will be will be gents.

16.) 22 Aug 2016 01:37:40
Stan i'd prefer snoddgrass but if Mccarthy comes up here for less money and wants to win trophies I'd take him in a minute.

17.) 22 Aug 2016 08:33:14
No happening.

18.) 22 Aug 2016 08:50:16
Heaney i'd take both, If we can't get Roberts to sign a permanent deal then Snodgrass should be our target. I rate McCarthy and on his day would walk into our midfield.

19.) 22 Aug 2016 08:50:30
The kind of team I want has no room for him. £5m would get us a better player from Europe or anywhere than the hyper inflated prices and wages England pays for guys like McCarthy.

I have never watched him and hoped he played for us. Not once, so no way for me. Every £ is a prisoner for us and 5million of them then wages is far to much for a player who doesn't have a game changing level of skill.

20.) 22 Aug 2016 13:46:36
It's not Snodgrass.

21.) 22 Aug 2016 14:52:02
Would rather snodgrass than that grass Wallace.

22.) 22 Aug 2016 16:41:41
Mccarthy and snodgrass are two completely different players our need is for a CM player and I think Mccarthy would cruise it up here in there with brown and Bitton.

20 Jun 2015 07:22:30
Ed any news on the Chilean or was that just a load of paper talk rubbish?

Wee1888

{Ed007's Note - The rumour going round is that Juan Delgado will fly in when the team reports for pre-season next week but I'm not 100% convinced. I have a sneaky suspicion that there are some people using the name of CFC to force another club (Wolfsburg) to play their hand.}

1.) 20 Jun 2015 21:30:38
Cheers ed. the whole thing with South Americans coming to the uk direct from over there always sounds and ends up a bit iffy

2.) 20 Jun 2015 22:11:28
Is this guy any good ED.

{Ed007's Note -

3.) 20 Jun 2015 22:34:19
why do players rarely come to britain straight from over ther? mainly going to the portugese league (making quite a bit of money for the clubs they join) is it to do with language less of a climate change better scouting from their league or do we just not want to take the risk?

{Ed007's Note - It's mainly to do with work permits.}

4.) 21 Jun 2015 01:52:00
Cheers ed

5.) 21 Jun 2015 04:10:05
Thanks ed

6.) 21 Jun 2015 11:54:34
Looks a player but can't see it happening as ed said work permit issues,

7.) 21 Jun 2015 12:21:07
The leagues in Spain and Portugal seem to show more leniency in terms of work permits which usually means they can pick up a bargain and sell on at a huge profit. Hulk, Falcao, James and now Jackson Martinez will probably be the next one. We're really missing out IMO.

8.) 21 Jun 2015 11:46:17
Ed again with some nice info. Always keeping it to yourself though unless probed ;)

Vossen this morning saying he'd be up for coming to Celtic. If we got Vossen and Delgado I think I'd be reasonably happy.

14 May 2014 10:40:43
I see the rumour mill down south has picked up with regards to Lennon joining Norwich, starting to think there might be a strong possibility of this happening now and I don't know how I feel about it is there any manager we could attract who is going to bring us up another level.

Wee1888

1.) Just seen that on BBC's gossip column:

Celtic boss Neil Lennon is ready to quit the Scottish Premiership champions to take charge at Norwich as they prepare for the Championship.

The source is The Mirror but?!

2.) This is not happening. Lennon has no interest in the Norwich job and his words recently have been reported massively out of context. Lennon would like to manage in the Premier League one day, but he was by no means saying that he wanted a move now. Would be too much of a wrench for him to give up the Celtic job and managing in the Champions League.

3.) It is starting to get on my nerves now that everytime he is asked about potential jobs in England he always has to say that he would like to move one day. I find him a little patronizing - all he has to say is no comment, and that he is already at one of the biggest clubs in the world. At the end of his playing career he ended up moving to Forest, a few months later he retired supposedly not settling in England, as far as I know his family stayed in the West End, anyway bottom line, he couldn't get back to Glasgow quick enough. You know what they say about not knowing what you have until it's gone. My feelings are quite clear, I wouldn't mind a new manager, new ideas - out of left field what about someone like Thomas Tuchel, he is regarded as the best upcoming coach in Germany, has just left mainz, they are desperate for him to stay but he is up against it as he never gets any money to spend and still has managed to take them into Europe. Some of his ideas are supposedly visionary, so what something like that. You would have to offer him a brilliant package, as far as I know he has already knocked back Schalke and a few others, but the manager is the most important person at any club, so if it takes 2 million a year for him pay it. I would prefer a top top manager to 2 average players!

4.) Be careful what you wish for, Owen Coyle or Kenny Sheils could come walzing in .

13 Feb 2017 21:15:05
What positions would we all like to strengthen in the summer? Now is the time to build on strength, personally I would like a right back, a right winger (if paddy is not staying) and someone to fill in/ challenge Rogic when not fit/ playing.

Wee1888

{Ed007's Note - I'd agree with all of that except I'd take a new 'keeper rather than a RB along with a new 3rd choice striker if Ciftci is moved on, maybe a youth player being promoted and given a chance if it comes up again. For me us just having Dembele and LG as strikers is a problem. If either gets injured we're down to our bare bones and all it takes is the other one to pick up a knock and we don't have a recognised striker.}

1.) 13 Feb 2017 21:28:58
Agree with the striker but I would give youth a chance we have 2 say it again 2 40 goal a season strikers can't rock the harmony within the squad by getting another, I recon a goal keeper will come in, no matter what Rogers says he did try replace Gordon in the summer and it never worked so I can see him trying again.

2.) 14 Feb 2017 02:29:59
playmaker.

3.) 14 Feb 2017 08:03:15
Two Wingers, a GK, and a CAM. Possibly a CB depending what happens with Kolo and how Ajer/ O'Connell get on.

4.) 14 Feb 2017 09:36:12
It's obvious what Rogic brings to the team - but since his arrival he has missed far too much football, for a lad his age due to injury, fitness and stamina problems.
If we had a fitter stronger version and another PR, all we would need is another decent keeper - as long as LG sorts himself out and gets back to what he does best?

5.) 14 Feb 2017 09:57:43
Maybe a LB too? I'd gladly give Izzy another year or two. Unless BR really does see Miller as a LB.

6.) 14 Feb 2017 19:02:03
Just on to defend Gordon (I know ed) , as most say they want a new GK.
Lets look at this practically, he cost us nothing and the manager wants him on a new deal. It says a lot that our manager who we all trust wants him on a new deal considering he wanted him replaced.

For me this means BR has seen improvement in him.
Yes he has made the odd mistake but tell me a keeper who doesn't.
I seen Courtois, Hart, Forster, Bravo and even DeGea make mistakes recently and they would all cost north of 20 m probably.

No chance of us buying that quality and I think Gordon wudnt look out of place in that company, Chelsea making a move in Jan confirms they think he quality.
His medical record is something that people use to batter him with, well he fit to play and I sure our manager wudnt have him anywhere near 1st team if he wasn't.

He has played more games than Rogic and Jozo and people rave about them at times despite their suspect injuries and it never gets mentioned.
So give the guy a break and tell me where u would find a better GK for nothing.

7.) 14 Feb 2017 22:17:14
Are you comparing CG to forster?

All keepers make mistakes I will give you that but CG is frighteningly poor at his near post and doesn't command his area the way a keeper with that level of experience should.

Domestically we will win anything and everything with him in goal but he's found out in Europe. Imo at the moment everything is all rosie with CG because we've been out of Europe for long enough for people to forget but the next clanger they will slate him. I'm also not fooled by chelsea wanting him as a no2 that doesn't tell me he's world class it looks to me like they want to adhere to the ffp rules more than anything else.

8.) 14 Feb 2017 22:19:21
Rayman i don't think the fans main gripe about Gordon is his fitness and in fact i hardly ever hear it being mentioned. His decision making and his rushing out abilities are the potential problems although i do personally think he is a fairly good keeper.
Also it's not about finding better players for less money, it's about finding better players.

9.) 15 Feb 2017 11:11:59
yes i am comparing him to Forster they went to Epl for similar money. Arguably done aswell as him when he was down there when fit.
Lets compare Europe aswell, CL the highest level.

Only tanking we took was against Barcelona 7-0 he wasn't in goal
but no mention of other players in that game. Why?
BMG was not good but that was down to outfield players not performing, we were poor that night but not CG. No mention of Sinclair sitter or Toure gifting the goals and CG saving us from a drubbing.

Did well every other CL game where is the problem.
How come CG gets it but other who were very poor in these games get excused?

10.) 15 Feb 2017 16:14:45
Your basing GK being as good as forster because the have both played in the epl and CL? That's like saying kris boyd is as good as Henry when applying the same logic!

CG as I pointed out before is weak at his near post, doesn't command his area and decision making is poor.

What exactly is it he's impressed you with so much? You mentioned the bmg game which we lost so that doesn't hold much weight with your point.

11.) 15 Feb 2017 19:51:44
Tick I never said he was as good as Forster I was comparing them at the highest level (where they should be judged) in the CL.
My point is 7-0 nil against Barcelona and the players get away with it when some had shockers. God forbid if CG was in goal then eh lol.

By the way did u know CG was rated best GK when he was down there and voted best save ever, an accolade Forster yet to achieve.
Forster was good but for his size was terrible at crosses similar to CG to some on here.

Shot stopping both excellent and ball at their feet I would a said similar but CG is better now in my opinion.
So not much between them mate.

As for BMG game we were rotten but CG had a good game .
Can u imagine the fallout if CG had the nightmare and the outfield players were good and we lost.

Just put some balance on it that's all I ask mate.
Its just too easy criticise him for some on here, can't figure why when he cost us nothing. If Jozo or Armstrong cost us nothing we would be raving about them.

12.) 15 Feb 2017 22:02:41
It's a fair point rayman and I will admit performances from have been better of late.

Personally I've never been a big fan of him even with the jambos I thought he had the potential to pull of majestic saves but got the basics wrong.

But your right he is heavily criticised on here at times but in fairness most players are after a couple dodgy games mate.

Count down to kick off bhoys, any idea if ebou is in the squad today

Wee1888

1.) 22 Jan 2017 13:40:29
Well at least for one day only the TIM population out here in Airdrie by the Sea will be quadrupled! The natives will restless until all are safely deported back across the border to Coatbridge and elsewhere! I'm surprised the locals haven't organised a welcoming parade but I can confirm no drums or flutes have been heard as yet 👍🍀

4.) 22 Jan 2017 14:46:28
Eboue isn't in the squad today wee1888

5.) 22 Jan 2017 17:55:09
its not july yet jfp lol.

09 Jan 2017 18:58:41
i bet the players do but me personally I don't like this winter break, just as bad as the international break having proper Celtic withdrawals

Wee1888

1.) 10 Jan 2017 10:26:57
Its nowhere near as bad as the international break. No Celtic games and having to watch Scotland is far worse than just having no Celtic games. So much so I start feeling empathy as I realise a bit what it must be like being a sevco supporter watching your team struggle against very average teams, and getting dominated by the good ones. 😆

2.) 10 Jan 2017 11:00:02
Kwaj a feel nothing but glad when a see them suffer. It's their turn to suffer and they deserve it more than anyone has ever deserved anything. Hell skelp it into the lot of them

15 Nov 2016 21:37:49
Excited for Friday, it's a good feeling being excited for games again, never stopped watching or loving Celtic but the last few years have been a bit meh, this team the way we are playing and fighting for every ball is a joy. think it will be three at the back considering izzy is playing in Argentina tonight,

Wee1888

1.) 15 Nov 2016 22:00:20
Don't know where I got Argentina from lol,

2.) 15 Nov 2016 23:18:54
Izzy scored tonight.

03 Oct 2016 18:55:42
Yes, 13 year old Dembele on the bench for the development team tonight, far too young I think, thoughts?

Wee1888

1.) 03 Oct 2016 19:00:36
If you're good enough you're old enough.

2.) 03 Oct 2016 19:01:43
He probably won't play to be fair. It'll be a good experience just to be in and around the older guys.

3.) 03 Oct 2016 19:05:38
I think it is to young, we have been stung by doing things like this before remember what's his name who went to Chelsea, so much potential got a bit star struck with himself and went chasing the pound down south, just hope this young lad keeps his feet on the ground and has good advisors.

4.) 03 Oct 2016 20:42:54
He has got on 81st minute.

5.) 03 Oct 2016 20:51:39
Other teams will be well aware of the boy wether he is in the development team or not unfortunately.

6.) 03 Oct 2016 20:41:18
The wee man has just came on in the 81st minute.

7.) 03 Oct 2016 20:47:41
Having a word with his namesake couldn't hurt. Seeing players of dembele's calibre coming to us to play must be a good example for him to follow.

8.) 03 Oct 2016 21:04:08
Seen a few clips of this wee guy and I must say what a player he looks! Yes he's still only a young boy but if he keeps progressing then he'll be some player! Think it shows the faith the youth team coaches have in him that they put him in the squad!

9.) 03 Oct 2016 21:06:31
And he came on in the 81st minute for Jack Aitchison with the 'tic up 3-1. Happy days.

Stengo.

10.) 03 Oct 2016 21:16:54
Obviously the youth coaches and what not know a lot more than me about this stuff, yes I'm excited to see a young lad break in to the development team, but a young guy still growing and maturing playing against full grown men it just takes one hit on a boy that size and that's his career over before it has even begun, you wouldn't put a heavy weight in against a feather weight would you,

11.) 03 Oct 2016 22:27:52
Jesus we can make a negative out of anything . As far as I know this was a football match and not boxing or wrestling . If boxing or wrestling it certainly wouldn't be the normal to match a heavy weight against a feather weight.

12.) 03 Oct 2016 23:08:59
Old bhoy not be negative just cautious, did you see the size of the lad one hit of a big bruiser and it could break his leg easily,

13.) 04 Oct 2016 09:22:02
I have a feeling that a rich club will salt him away before he gets near our first team. A bit like that wee ***** who went to Chelsea after all TB did for him and his family.

Loyalty is not a consideration for some when miney is involved. Celtic will need to offer a package similar to any scavengers.

Hope I'm wrong but that's how I see it.

14.) 04 Oct 2016 19:08:39
Wee 1888. It doesn't take a big heavy weight to break the leg of a youngster.
I can remember wee Bremmer for Leads Utd and he didn't have any problems trading tackles of the leg break variety with big hard men and neither were injured.

15.) 05 Oct 2016 02:36:14
Islam Feruz can be used as a prime example of why he should not leave for the money. My only hope is the boy is kept grounded by his parents and told to ignore the hype and keep working hard because he has achieved very little so far.

16.) 06 Oct 2016 18:20:32
Ferez moved against his father's wishes . His mother got carried away with the fairies and no place was good enough for her son . The father appreciate what T Burns had done for family and was well pleased at his development at Celtic .
Not only do we need K Dembele's head to not go off in the clouds we want his mum and dad to keep their feet on the ground too.

Yeah I agree it's not in vogue at the min, poor Griffiths got that injury at the wrong time, think it will take an injury to moussa for him to get back in the team.
