I'd be surprised peterbhoy if we didn't, it's a pretty standard clause these days.

How much are Roma paying?

Don't think Brighton will make much profit so will be suprised if we make any money.

Brighton will be doing well to avoid a loss .
We need to hope our next few sales do better than most of our recent sales . Clubs world wide will notice that recently clubs buying players from us are getting poor value for their £ and will reduce the amount they pay usc.

Can someone explain the sell on clause percentage and profit scenarios? I've read many articles on this and it states sell on clause are inserted with a view of getting that percentage of the entire future sale, not the percentage of the profit the club made.
So are we setting up clauses to receive percentages of profit, or percentage of future sale, or are we guessing?

Below is directly from me searching:-

No, a sell-on clause is generally not void if a player is sold for less than the original transfer fee. A sell-on clause is a contractual agreement where the selling club receives a percentage of any future transfer fee if the player is sold again. This clause is triggered by the future sale, regardless of whether that sale is for more or less than the initial transfer.
Here's why:
Purpose of the clause:
Sell-on clauses are designed to benefit the original selling club when a player's value increases after they leave, not to penalize them if the player's value decreases.
Future transfer:
The clause is activated upon a future transfer, not the initial sale. The original selling club is still entitled to the agreed-upon percentage of the new transfer fee, even if it's lower than the original fee.
Example:
If Club A sells a player to Club B for £10 million with a 20% sell-on clause, and then Club B sells the same player to Club C for £15 million, Club A gets $3 million (20% of £15 million) . If Club B sells the player for £8 million, Club A still gets £1.6 million (20% of £8 million) .

So the percentage of profit or percentage of enitre sale is baffling.

{Ed007's Note - Every sell-on clause I've ever heard of and according to the late great Ed002 it is a percentage of the profit.
