ED007 if you are about

Surely there is NO TRUTH in these stories about Efran Juarez being offered a coaching role and I cannot believe MON would accept being told to work with a coach he hardly knows.

{Ed007's Note - I think it's all came from an interview where he said something like "Why shouldn't aim to manage a club Celtic's size" or something along those lines. I wouldn't pay too much attention to it, the to take over next year patter is a red herring for me.}

Cheers ED007

I did not think Martin would allow this Board to foist someone on him, as Martin like any coach needs people he has worked with and can trust.

{Ed007's Note - Do you think MON picked Maloney and Fotheringham? Even if those 2 have agreed to stay on in their roles I'd still like to see someone else added to the main coaching staff, it's either a change or breath of fresh air needed in coaching or a major change in playing/starting personnel to break away from the slow monotonous football we've seen for too long in this squad across different managers & coaches
And we might need a replacement for Baby Strachan if he goes to WBA.}

Couldn’t agree more Ed, we got results last year, but I never saw anyone or team start to thrive from the coaching, I could be wrong ……. a thought -with McKenna on a sabbatical, will his coaches become available when he’s replaced, could we look to put them in place to help a possible future move for him.

{Ed007's Note - We seen with Nancy that drastic changes mid-season doesn't work but who knows what could have happened if he had a full preseason and proper recruitment, that's the kind of progression we need a breakaway completely from the horseshoe of death.}

Even BR and MON both moaned about the across the field, back the other way, up the wing; back to the keeper and start again p**h.

Both have said they wanted the ball moved forward quicker but the players didn't do that, which suggests that is how they were being coached.

We got away with one last season, there is no way playing that way again will get us success again.

I agree Ed, if it is down to coaching we do need a change, a refresh.

{Ed007's Note - I know some people will disagree but I put a lot of it on CalMac, he's the player that dictates the tempo etc for us and he spends far too much time passing it about as if he is 3rd CB, no matter what Celtic player in the defence or midfield has the ball McGregor's 5 yards away demanding the ball and pointing and when he gets the ball he just passes it on another 5 yards sideways or even back to the CB or FB he got it from.
If I was MON I would be asking Engels to give us another year - offer him a new deal and payrise with a promise/clause he can leave next summer - and tell him he is going to be the main man and we will build the midfield around him, he is by a country mile the best all round MF at the Club.
We simply can't go into next season with CalMac being the main lynchpin of the team.}

Ed I've said before the side and back passing from mgregor has a lot to do with our negative play on the park. even as a boy playing for a local team you were always taught to look up and play forward, i don't understand why coaches drill it into players involve the keeper by passing across there back line, imo you just create problems for yourself.

Would it be too much to expect for the manager to tell players what he wants with the threat of being withdrawn if not done. Get it that options may have limited that ability last season, but surely the manager calls the shots.

{Ed007's Note - It's like wingers cutting inside all the time, is that on them or the manager? I'd rather leave it up to the player whether he wants to go inside or try and take his man on, it's a lot less predictable.}

Av said on numerous times that up against better players in Europe calmac gets constantly found out and low and behold my youngest daughter goes out and buys a Celtic top with McGregor on her back?‍♂️.

Maybe she knows better.

Ed, I think a few of us have said that. Play Engels where he was playing before we bought him. Let him dictate our play and maybe play CM forward.

Engels has so much quality and it is being wasted playing him where we do.

CM is the proverbial crab. He no longer has the ability to move forward at pace and break the defensive line, so he plays short one twos and then the ball goes out wide to wingers already covered or defenders who come backwards with the ball as they are closed down.

Jota did what he wanted as did Liel Abada, yet the wingers we have come inside and nothing happens. Hit the byline and it puts pressure on defenders heading backwards and gives strikers the opportunity to make their runs and hit space.

Calmac still has plenty of pace BUT he seldom uses it to go forward. On the odd occasion he does, he normally causes a panic in the opposition as they're not expecting it. That said, he should be playing further forward and as I fully expect Engels to be punted, I hope we're securing a strong DM who is a first team starter.

I've also said for ages our wingers need to vary their play more. Look back at our goals at the end of last season. Almost all of them came from a player hitting the byline and crossing.
