Could we afford the whole Bodo team manager dof, the lot, part exchange everyone of ours that direction.

Agree4 Disagree0

We could afford them no problem. The only sticking point would be ;
A, why would they want to come here?

B, if they did, do you think they could work with our board?

C, you think our board would have the enthusiasm to appoint them and let them run things?

D, we would be far down the list of Clubs who would want to tap them.

Only on loan deals .

Very impressive again in Europe, at the highest level, from the Norwegians.

To go to Italy and beat Inter on the night and 5-2 on aggregate takes some doing.

This is no flash in tye pan either, they've consistently demonstrated they can punch well above their weight with the big guns.

If we don't have individuals at Celtic Park looking at this, planning to go over to Norway and see their set up/ facilities etc then what's the point?

{Ed007's Note - Model ourselves on a club that came 2nd in the Norwegian league? Would the Celtic support back any manager/system that lost a league or won 3 out the last 5, 4 out of the last 10?}

Ed, we don't have a footballing operation in place, as you're clearly aware.

Therefore, if a team with a stadium that holds just over 8K fans, in a town with approx 54K people, can perform over the past few seasons in the CL and get results like they have, why would we not look at their model?

Afterall, this season we've turned a one horse race into a 3 horse race that we're currently last in.

{Ed007's Note - Would Celtic fans ever accept not winning the league, does a manager survive not winning the league? Is winning 3 league titles out 5 a model we should be aiming to replicate?
Look at the reaction to us being in that 3 horse race with everything to play for.}

The main problem would be the supporters who would demand instant success and would be throwing balls onto the field and chanting sack the board.

Ed,

perhaps I've not been clear enough with the point I'm attempting to make re Bodo.

I'm referring specifically to possible aspects of the model that the club utilises, whether that is in;- coaching, player developmemt, transfer market - whatever elements of that footballing structure works, are there parts that our club could mirror or adopt?

Perhaps a DOF would be a good starting point?

Clearly we have little, if any, structure to talk about. We've regressed this season, in particular, in almost every metrics on the field and it's no coincidence we've conceded more goals than in previos seasons, scored less than in previous seasons and find ourselves with a depleted first team squad in a dog fight to retain the league title.

We already have the financial resources to revolutionise our structure as well as the first team squad, therefore, IMO, with such a structure in place we would again make far lighter work of the domestic games which would allow us to make gains on the European front.

{Ed007's Note - I get all that Ped but it doesn't get away from the fact that they struggle to dominate their domestic game, this is the first year they've managed to qualify for the CL and because they didn't win the league it looks like they will really struggle to qualify next year. It's all a bit MOTD Feverish for me blinded by their (impressive) European results.
I'm not saying we couldn't learn from them but there's plenty of other teams out there we could say the same about. Why not go to Motherwell or Hibs and ask why they continually produce better young players than us, the answer is simple, the play games, they're allowed to make mistakes and learn, the Celtic support will never accept 2nd best and they never give players - especially youngsters - a chance. That's the basic concept at all these clubs Celtic fans want us to emulate.
We've got players at 23 still considered youngsters whereas other clubs have 19/20 years old pushing to have played 100 SPFL games easily.
I'm not getting into the DOF chat mate, I am actually at the point in life I bore myslef with it! ?

I agree with you, whether Bodo and a host of other clubs, locally or a few hours on a plane, for all I know we could be doing this already but I very much doubt it.

I used to work for a European company that had facrories in a few different countries, who were involved in the drinks industry.

The General Manager, in charge of production, visited his counter part in Japan, I think it was Toyota, to see first hand how their processes worked and if he could implement any of them across his factories to improve efficiency.

Not surprisingly, he got different hints/ tips/ process improvements practically ever year and it paid dividends.

This is not rocket science and there's plenty we could learn from other teams as well as other sports.

I pray we can get rid of DD, his t. i. t of a boy and this current board - no survivors. Put in place a board with the interests of everyone connected to and invested in the success and progress of Celtic Football Club, domestically and in Europe.

{Ed007's Note - I honestly don't see any realistic way of getting rid of DD and I've said that all along but what I hope is that once the GB situation is sorted out that the Fans Collective can force him to rethink how the Club is ran and the people doing it - the people "against" the Fans Collective forget that it was started before the GB ban, their aims will continue regardless.
DD, rightly or wrongly, has the power to reset the Club, we don't even need his money, that's the galling bit to me and other fans I talk to - why he doesn't want us to be the best version of ourselves actually baffles me Ped.}

25 Feb 2026 21:01:02
I agree. That's the bit that gets me. I wish DD was more involved to see the mess the people he trusts have made of the place. He should come and stay in Glasgow till the end of the season and meet the collective see for himself what has been going on.

He wouldn't let half of the negligence that's happened to Celtic happen in his other businesses.

{Ed007's Note - DD isn't making money out of Celtic, that's a proven myth so what is the long game, would he accept an OTT offer for his shares even though he has said his family will never sell.
Something Fergus McCann promised would never happen again btw, Celtic being in control of one man/family.}
