Is there a reason why we lowball? Is it because we've an accountant and financial people on the Board that are tighter than a ducks ass or is there any other reason?

Look at it from this viewpoint-
You go to buy a house, the seller says they want £1m for the house, your not going to offer that, because you think it’s too much, you offer £800k, they reject it. You come back with a best and final offer £850k. They refuse it. So no deal is done
It’s that simple.

Exactly peterboy but the difference with these clowns is they refuse to pay a fair price. Nothing wrong with a bit of haggling but these clowns take it to another level.

Someone else sees the £1m price tag and as they are desparate to get the house they buy it and we are left with nothing.

And if you don't get the players your bottom line is better and you get a nice wee bonus on top of your hugely inflated and undeserved salary.

Houses at my bit usually go for 10-20% over asking price.

You do your due dilligence and pay what you believe the player is worth in line with your budget.

I get the feeling that our board have, in many instances, or at least the individual doing the negotiating, tried to take the p*ss, missed out on the player and the supporters have been left with the usual tried and tested BS line of 'we were very close to securing so and so but' - for reference see John McGinn and Peter Lawell.

A win/ win, as anyone on here who has negotiated at any level will tell you, should leave both parties relatively happy, screwing someone, be it a customer, supplier or in footballing terms, a chairman to the floor, will likely mean you never do business with that individual/ business/ club again.

Our whole footballing structure inc player transfers needs to be ripped up and brought into the 21st century.

I always find it funny that as a selling club we ask for huge sums at times, especially from what we've bought them originally for, yet when we approach to buy, fans say that player isn't worth it, but to their club they are wanting the best price, can't have it all one way.
