Ed mate hoping you can answer a question for me please. Does Celtic have a different method for green lighting transfers? I know the obvious they don't do it well but I am wondering does the board members however many there may be all have to approve signings which is pretty backwards if that is the case? I just can't work out what there method is when it comes to this and how it would compare to a team who's recruitment is good?

{Ed007's Note - I'll be honest with you Lee mate, right now I have no idea but I'm guessing it's a mish mash of the available data on players from Tisdale/Lefevre and if they meet the standards of MON/SM - and probably JBW (the ex-Chelsea guy) - along with players those 3 know or think could do a job before Beaker and McKay get involved with transfer negotiations.
I've said it for 15/16 years on here that we are one of the few - if any - clubs that doesn't have a clear footballing department structure of a DOF/Sporting Director or whatever fancy name they use running everything with managers inputs as they come and go.}

Only I thing I know is it was pish before Tisdale, it was pish with Tisdale and it will likely be pish after Tisdale.

I would say we have wasted a lot of money on most of these players, not just on transfer fees but wages as well.
If you think of our current team only the GK, lb and cm are new recruits we brought in, in since Rodgers came back and only reason they get a game is because we can't play someone who was here before Rodgers in that position or we would probably still be playing hart, Taylor and MOR.
So in my view, which you may or may not agree with, is our recruitment has been woeful in recent years and I think we are about to prove that it was not just Tisdale and Rodgers fault. Which is the narrative our board would have us believe.

Troy just type in top scorers in danish ( any ) league and you'll get loads of sites espn is good with full list of all scorers by season and goes back a few seasons now if I can do that how hard is is for for employees of a supposed professional club to do might not be comprehensive in tbe players other stats but it's a starting point.

Drb a posted other day nearly exact same, a look at leagues and teams with not many goals conceded and many scored and what we could realistically go for yet we went for Trusty who was part of 1 kf the worse defences in prem league history.

Were they not waffling about when they went for a player there had to be a bunch of emails sent to certain directors, every other club seems to manage just fine we're a shambles when it comes to transfers always have been.

Don't know about, tonetki could be decent (he's no better than the say Yang walked in door for me ) Yang I think is constantly developing, there's players like palma lager nawrocki holm that I think where good signings for wrong manager. We've dabbled in a market where we are buying according to price first then trying to find the player imo, me should be concentrating on a core group of developed and Scottish bought players supplemented with true quality regardless of costs, Joe for someone who says you meant recent recruitment I'm sure you've said in your board hate posts recruitment going back years hasn't been good enough, for me our structure for years has been wrong but apart from odd window we've done what's needed for manager and squad, last summer really was an own goal but we where a striker and maybe a decent rw away from no one caring, last summer when Engels and idah dropped at end window people where over moon, in grand scheme things I think we do ok but it all needs rethought for future as 5m duds seem to me could become norm if we're not careful.

Recruitment is about more than buying good players, which obviously is important as well.
Recruitment is about making sure you have a strong squad to achieve your goals, we don't.
it is about addressing the weaknesses in your team, we didn't.
It is about buying players who are suited to how the managers system, we don't always donthat.
It is about selling players at the right time, we didn't.
It is about forward planning, we didn't.
It is about bringing players in on time, we didn't and crashed out the CL.
it is about squad management, we didn't do that as we now have lots of aging players, some with recurring injuries.
So when you assess the clubs performance in recruitment we must take a holistic approach. I am not saying that every single player we have signed has been poor or that there has not been some success in player trading. Now ask yourself this, how would you rate our recruitment?
P. s. if you look at my second post in this thread it was clear what period I was talking about. That is not to say that there have not been lots of failures in the past as well. It is often cited that leaving our dealings to the last day of the window has cost os plenty in lost revenue as we failed to qualify for CL.
