Here are Nancy's managerial stats:
At Montreal he had a 47% win rate. His team scored 123 goals and conceded 105.
At Columbus Crew he had a 51% win rate. His team scored 262 and conceded 179 goals.
The stats alone suggest he is nowhere near Celtic class.
However, that is only part of the picture. He has never managed a big team in a high pressure environment and does not have the media savvy or gravitas to handle the Celtic job.
Nicholson admitted that they had been following him for sometime and that he was also the outstanding candidate for the job. If they honestly believe that he was the outstanding candidate for the job, they need to go and take their failed experiment with them, as I could have told you from his stats alone that he should never have been anywhere near the Celtic job and after watching him in action, I stick by that assessment.

Joe I agree, my belief is our board have a complete disregard and respect for the rest of Scottish football, thought his style with gulf in players would possibly blow team away, I'm happy to give it credit, some of our losses wether it's Dundee United / hearts or goal losses like today have been errors on individual parts, and games have been a good watch but for all the wrong reasons, I'm dreading this going forward to be honest.

Got to agree even though we have won the last two (from six) every opponent can score against us far too easily and with the current squad it will be highly unlikely to expect us to score 3-4 every game. Granted he has come in right at the deep end with no pre-season like AP had for example, but that again is down to Board incompetence and ridiculous timing - apparently to save a few quid.
Celtic have played well middle to front in the majority of his games, but today for example both full-backs were very poor and we were exposed twice by the worst team in the division.
Hand on heart Ralston and Tierney have both been rotten lately. Obviously, he has very limited options and there is quality urgently needed in key positions but too many players have went backwards with only Yang, Nygren and McCowan looking the part today. Whereas under MON we saw much more from Engels, McGregor, Scales who has list his place and even Kenny scored goals.
The next few weeks worry me:- results-wise, what will happen when the transfer window opens and do we really want to appoint Celtic manager number 4 in the same season?

Outside of Celtic oneil never achieved a higher win percentage than 52%. Was he not good enough then?

Had to laugh when the commentator said they rave about Nancy in the MLS and he MLS coach of the year over there at one point. The MLS is a poorer standard than the women's game!

O'Neil got leicester promoted to the premiership (not the MLS) and kept them in it for a good few years, despite having a small budget. He also got them to 3 finals, winning two of them and got them into Europe twice.
In addition, he also studied law at queen's university, which indicated he was smart and he was also great with the press and could run rings round them. That indicates someone with the credentials to manage Celtic.

Cory O'Neill when outside Scotland managed in very Competitive league, if nancys stats where in a similarly competitive league there would be no issues, his stats that aren't that great are in the mls, place where not coming top of the league still gives u a chance of being champion, newsflash we need to be top in our league,

You can argue the mls standard is poor (still better than scotland though overall) but in terms of competitiveness different teams win it yearly they are all of equal standard. So a 50% win rate is fairly respectable.
27 Dec 2025 21:52:17
And ange similarly outside of Celtic and Australia u20 never achieved a higher win percentage than 51%.
27 Dec 2025 22:21:59
Ange had pedigree and trophies in the bank that u guessed it the teams needed to come first to be champs, the comparison is a non starter, the mls is donkey stuff fact, I have no doubt that Nancy could in some countries run a mock and his system would excel I'm also in no doubt it will excel here against livi, Falkirk, Dundee etc and I also suspect we might even win the league as our standard of player will so out weight other team but he's not the answer for us, il support that team to the hill no matter who's in charge, but il say if he's wrong or not and he's wrong.
