With the dust settled on last nights game it's time to ask the question - was last nights Scotland game the best game ever for a nuetral. Winner takes all, 6 goals, a controversial penalty, a red card, 3 goal of the season contenders, wild and exciting fans, noise, energy and nail biting. If it's isn't what was the best game you watched as a neutral?

The first World Cup I remember watching was in Spain '82 and there were a couple of crackers.

Brazil were understandably big favourites to win the tournament but they lost 3-2 to Italy with Pablo Rossi scoring a hat trick.

I think the Semi Final was a Friday night and West Germany beat France on Penalties after a 3-3 draw.
W. Germany were struggling 3-1 down but then they brought on Rumminega ( sorry spelling ) and it changed the game.

The French rightly felt aggrieved due to Schumacher the W. German keeper who had the worst ever assault on the French player and he still managed to stay on the pitch and helped win the penalty shootout.

My favourite other game not including Celtic was the 2016 SC Final when Hibs deserved their first SC success in 114 years especially with the winner in injury time.

As we're of a similar vintage BuzzBomb, Spain 82' was also my first real memory of a W. C. as I was too wee to remember anything of Argentina 78'.

On that infamous assault, and make no mistake for the younger bhoys on this forum, it was assault and battery (Google it) , Schumacher was never even booked, if memory serves me.

But that Brazil team in 82' were fantastic, Rossi for Italy, who also won the golden boot as the tournaments highest scorer, was implicated in match fixing when I think he was at Juventas.

I stand corrected, Rossi was on loan with Perugia when the betting scandal was uncovered.

In true Italian style, although he was found guilty and subsequently banned from playing, the ban was later reduced, ensuring he was back playing just in time to get picked for the national side who would go to Spain and win the World Cup that summer.

Nice timing ?

{Ed007's Note - It was nasty to see as an 8-year old.}

I hadn't realised that Battiston slipped into a coma and Platini, his team mate, later commented he thought he was dead.

I think Liverpools comeback v AC Milan to win the champions league was sensational.

Scotland v Holland with Archie's goal was up there.

But last nights game and seeing our country back at the World Cup finals was just orgasmic. ?.

I just read about the incident Pedro and the referee didn't even give a foul.
The game started back up with a W. Germany goal kick.

Italy v West Germany 1970 World Cup.

Newcastle v Arsenal 2011

Arsenal including Fabregas, Arshavin, Walcott Van Persie ripped Newcastle apart in first half ended 4 nil to Gunners at half time.

Arsenal got man sent off early 2nd half and the late Cheick Tiote scored a remarkable volley late on to tie the game at 4 all.

What a game.
