Just out of curiosity anyone still believe Rodgers wasn't the main problem at the club ?.
{Ed007's Note - Me.... the main problem at Celtic has for years been the way we are ran, our success papers over the cracks and we should be so far in front in Scotland it should embarrass every other club in the land.
Celtic have become the Club David Murray wanted Rangers to be but their support expected him to pay for it, we've got a board of old men that imo are scared to spend the £ that us supporters have put in just in case things don't work out right. MON could win the Treble this season, we could bring in Knutsen, we could bring in McKenna, we could bring in Klopp but every single transfer window the same problems are going to arise.
In the modern game managers/head coaches don't and never will change a clubs unless it's a top level guy coming in to revolutinise the club like a Klopp or Pep. We bring in Knutsen and in 2 years time he's away to the Pub League, but like Ange we were training youths to play "Angeball", did that change to "BrendanBall" when he came back? What's next "Knutsenball"....
Do Brugge or Ajax rip up their full set up with every new manager/coach, PSG, Barca?

Was a simple yes or no answer
Not saying the board is perfect and they frustrate every fan in the transfer windows with taking too long to make signings
But Rodgers was the main and biggest problem at the club
I'm just glad I wasn't one of the gullible fans to fall for his pathetic tricks.
{Ed007's Note - Ok then, no. Is that better? I explained my answer and I was one of the "gullible fans" that thought this time he would be a man of his word. Were you moaning about Rodgers last season when we had one of the best Euro campaign in recent memory, did he trick you and the rest of us to celebrate winning leagues etc?
The problem at Celtic for years hasn't been the manager, it's been who's running the Club, Ronny Delia with the right backing and set up could have taken Celtic beyond anything Rodgers could dream of and we would still have been reaping more benefits than we are, wo changed the sports science side of things that are still in place, diet etc, Ronny.... 11 years ago.}

Spot on Ed…. We have had major structural problems for a long time. My only point is that DD must be happy or he would've changed it.

Well said ed. ??
I wrote an article about Fergus and Desmond a while back. In the article I acknowledged that Desmond has brought stability to our club and built a great foundation for us to go to next level. However, he is afraid to build on it and is far too conservative. They also lack foresight and are often reactionary rather than strategic.
While some fans are happy to settle for that, i am not and judging by the fan movement which has sprung up, it would appear that I am not the only one.
{Ed007's Note - I want Celtic to be THE very best they can be and quite simply I don't think we ever have - and that goes back to the Kelly/White era and even under McCann. The decisions made under Fergus and what came next have held the Club back.}

Been saying for years that it feels like we are being held back, for whatever reason. You only have to look at the EBT years and when the court cases concluded. Yet the Celtic board barely raised a whimper. A rookie lawyer straight out of college could have won any case such was the irrefutable evidence.
Some of the decision making of our so called leaders has been utterly baffling.
But to answer the main point, Roger's never was the problem, 20 years of stagnation was and is. Only hope the collective see this through.

The main problem with the club is that they don't have a viable youth academy that can bring on young Scottish talent or talent from around the world, they bow to the support who demand immediate success, so they rely in cheque book managers, most of the time we like Brendan, who wants to buy big players, at big money, on big salaries.
And then Brendan can say what a great coach he is, this is all wrong, develop our own players, have a few years when we are not top dogs, but we are developing a team that will be great in the future, just not today.

Brendan turned off just like players after cl exit, then sulked and it clearly blew onto squad also, he didn't develope anyone while here for 2 years and Kuhn aside never had any success with signings, that doesn't mean another manager won't have success with them and ultimately they be good signings, but he was achieving that, undoubtedly Celtic planning is piss poor with no football foresight for future that's not on him.

bobo must forget who appointed rodgers and who kept him in the job 2 months longer than he needed to be.

I have similar views Ed, as I also want us to be the best we can be. That being said I have other issues with Desmond and the board in addition to footballing decisions.

Unless we are prepared to loosen the purse strings and get a DOF who has total control of buying and selling, we are never ever going to take the step forward we should and we as aclub need.
We will continue to win leagues and cups but will stagnate, building up mountains of cash if we can negotiate the 20 qualification rounds to the CL.
There us no way the current board and majority share holder will allow any risk taking, which will out off many managers/ coaches.
