BRIAN DEMPSEY WARNS THE CELTIC BOARD THAT THE FANS KNOW THE CLUB IS THEIRS:
The Celtic fans are the salt of the earth and the club must never overlook that fact.
To have a feel for Celtic you have to understand the depth of feeling for the club that exists among families who go without in order to back the club to the hilt.
I would struggle to understand how the board can continue to oversee a situation where there is a lack of mutual respect between the club and the fans.
I would never refer to the Celtic support as the customer base because they're not customers.
They are people who, over the 30 years since the takeover, have put tens of millions of pounds into Celtic and who make personal sacrifices to go on doing so.
They know the club is theirs because it is in their minds, their hearts and their pockets.
The club are financially indebted to them and must never forget that.
The fans are now, as they were in 1994, the ones who make Celtic a viable company with their relentless purchase of season tickets, merchandising and everything else on offer from the club.
And yet we have come to a situation where there will be an organised boycott of the first 12 minutes of the game against Kilmarnock.
The inability to qualify for the Champions League and the unsatisfactory transfer window that has left the fans in uproar does add up to failure.
This situation is not irretrievable if you really do want to make amends for what has happened.
But it has to start by having proper dialogue with the supporters. And that begins by saying to them: 'I'm sorry. '
If it was me, I'd have walked into the centre-circle at Celtic Park in front of 60,000 people and said those words to demonstrate my contrition.
In adversity there is opportunity - as was proven to be the case in 1994.
Now Celtic must take steps to repair the loss of trust that has arisen between people who should all be pulling in the same direction for the sake of the club.

I don't think it can be repaired. They hate us and we hate them
Time to sever all ties.

Our boycott match in 1994 was also against Kilmarnock with only 10,000 fans in attendance.
John Collins scored the only goal in the 90th minute and I would take a similar outcome today.
Somehow a fox managed to run across the pitch during the match.

Oh for a Brian Denpsey to sort that lot out,

Little Joseph
I agree 100%.
The post highlights the disparity between Brian Dempsey’s sentiments and our arrogant boards attitude towards us.

Just hope the club doesn't implode and hand any second party a clean run at the title.
It was same when we were going for 10 - just don't want it to be the same as 56 - I know that Sevco are reborn - but the bragging rights remain.

Joe, JFP
There absolutely needs to be change.
My gut tells me that Lawell will leave which I think in most fans eyes will signify a major shift in policy.
The relationship he has with BR is non existent and if Lawell has gone and the investment goes up a few notches to the satisfaction of BR, resulting in a new contract then that leaves only communication to resolve.
Nicholson is weak and in my view does not possess the charisma to be our CEO, However Rodgers would appear to have a decent relationship with him.
In all of this of course is DD.
He will not sell those shares no matter what in my view.
Having an independent billionaire on the board is not a bad thing as long as he surrounds himself with competent members who have vision and drive to be the best version of our selves.
If all of the above came to pass do you believe this would settle the majority of us down and buy the board time to prove that the dial had moved significantly.
The caveat being we keep our cash in our pocket until we see hard evidence of change.
Thoughts?

Am still sitting on the fence with the board guys, yes they have got us in a great position financially but not investing this season has put a dampener on it, but is that down to BR tho as he was backed well last yr and his 3 big signings at £26m still need to prove a lot. a know Idah is away but he’s the 1 a thot done well with 20 goals. Sterlec or the boy who went to Ajax would have made the window a very decent 1,so mb were not to far away from a compromise between board and fans, I am just trying to put a positive spin on things sorry guys but a hate the thot of that mob having even a slimmer of hope.

PL leaving, no matter whether he is the issue or not, will please many fans.
It is rhe perception of him having control over all at CP that annoys and frustrates fans.
When he stood down and CEO, he should never come back as Chairman.
The perception also that MN is weak, isn't backed up by those that know him, but his pparent inability to make decisions is questionable.
I think other non Executive board members need to leave as they have never challenged the board.
We won't get rid of DD but a strong board can and should overrule him when ut us in the best interests of the team.

I am of the opinion that the board just carry out Desmond's vision and wishes.
If this is the case, then it is pointless replacing them as the next board will do the exact same or he will vote them off.
The way I see it, is Desmond either has to change his strategy and be less conservative or we need to get more votes than him and remove him.

'Football is nothing without fans' and Celtic Football Club is nothing without its supporters.
Those on our board who continue to treat the supporters with such distane, should think again.
