We are about to start the new season with glaring weaknesses in our squad.
I am only going to highlight the weaknesses.
RCB - we have ccv and Murray who historically have both suffered from injury and it is likely will do again. This is a major concern for me.
LCB - we have Trusty and Scales and I think most of us would agree we need an upgrade here.
LB - we have Tierney who is an upgrade on Taylor if he can stay fit but that is a big if as he appears to be prone to hamstring injury which often reaccur. Inamura may prove to be a good back up but we don't know at this moment in time.
RW - we have Yang and Forrest. Yang may be sold which would leave us short and I don't think is good enough to be our number one. Forrest is also injury prone so is not a reliable back up.
LW - we only have Maeda so we need a back up and if he leaves we have nobody, which is extremely concerning.
I should also point out that when you don't have the players to rotate, players often get over played and this runs a high risk of injury.
Some may also like to see another striker as they think we are weak in this position as well. With just over 4 weeks of the window remaining, Nicholson and McKay need to get the finger out and get some of the signings over the line. They should heed the lesson of leaving it too late with Idah and ending up having to overpay.

There are one or two muppets around that will no doubt suggest you're being negative and should be grateful for the promising players we've signed and not to focus on the positions we haven't strengthened ?

The thing I can't understand about how Celtic do business is they know for some time I guess that first team players want to leave, or in negotiation with another club BUT Celtic don't look like they think a first team player looks more than likely to be moving on who will we bring in to cover him? They just appear to say that's him away now we will look to see if we can get cover after he is away. Maybe the manager will not notice he is away until the window closes and say something? It just looks really badly run in that part of the business. For a long long time. We all know Celtic are risking CL qualifying by this business plan.

Even the regular 'Board Apologists' cannot defend this situation days before the season starts. As stated these are not issues and requirements that have cropped up overnight, it has been ongoing. Nobody expected us to spend tens of millions. Just diligent and practical recruitment that filled gaps and improved quality if possible. Other clubs (working to scale) apparently manage their recruitment more efficiently that we do and this is nothing new.
Strengthening and improving the squad should always be a priority.

I can guarantee you that our recruitment team have identified lots of targets in each position.
The next step is down to Nicholson and McKay to get the deals concluded.

100% accurate WeeJoe in everything you say. The CF position is also one we need to strengthen for sure, the manager has made that clear and we can't rely on Idah, Kenny (who might be sold/ loaned) and Shin who is still an unknown quantity and not the managers idea of a Kyogo replacement. I said in here a while back that we would wait to the last minute and get 1 or 2 signings max and possibly a loan deal. I'd say now it will be 1 signing and a loan deal.

Don't know why anyone is surprised. It's the same year after year. The board don't have any ambition other than staying one foot in front of the The Rangers and providing a healthy balance sheet.

Well Mally the league opener is on Sunday what do we think the team for the weekend?
Based on pre season will it be Schmeichel or Sinisalo? Does Trusty deserve to keep his place? What about Yang will he start or will he put Nygren on the right wing with a midfield three of Calmac, Hatate and Engles or does McCowan deserve a start?

I don't need connections to know that the recruitment team will have identified lots of players for every position, it is just common sense.
Summer preparations will have started back in February. Targets will have been identified by our recruitment team, Rodgers will have been consulted and then it us up to the board to negotiate transfer fees, agent fees, signing on bonuses and contracts.
By the time the transfer window begins it is in the hands on Nicholson and McKay.

If BR had the final say on purchases then that would indicate KT is his LB choice, Inamura LB, Nygren RW, Shin as the striker.
I can't see this being the case what so ever but please correct me if im wrong.
I wouldn't be signing players for a manager that may not continue with the club after this season, I'd be getting players in the door recruited by the scouting network who get paid to find talent, the manager simply works with what he is offered, surely most clubs are ran like this are they not?

Turner, Brendan has stated himself that he has the final decision on players but I don't know if that includes players for our development squad or it's just first team.
He also stated recently that some players are bought for now and some for the future but sometimes the future players surprise him.
