Wee dessie a would love your optimism but superb window behave, boy from Fulham hasn't played a senior game for them n didn't do much in friendly, yamada back of poor season but will not judge until seen, 2 cb left but have had no first team plans in nawrocki n lagerbielke so that's good, Tierney returned and Japanese lb can't remind his name does look like player in, kuhn has left and jota out for months so how is that stronger than we have started? Kenny looks like he's kicked on a bit but that's strikers of yamada yet to decide, idah who plays better coming on and Kenny who looks to of improved but are we better have to wait and see but to say superb is a bit far fetched.

Funny I thought we had signed B Nygren who looks very good .
The thing is Cfcjohnny we really have lost very little . I look at our ist team squad on the last day of season, or at opening day of window compared to closing day of window .
To be honest we can’t put much value on Kuhn, he decided that his Celtic career was as good as over end of January .
Jota is still with us and is most likely to be a couple of months closer to a return, so certainly not a minus . Kyogo doesn’t count as when we have a good window and maybe even negatives appreciate some of our signings have done better than we thought, we still have to try to finish better . So we have lost Taylor who I rated well but suffered abuse from stands and from social media .
So we need to better unpopular Taylor and non trying Kuhn . Pointless counting others as we forced them out .
Nobody but a total fool could argue that Tierney Inamura, Nygren Yamada who is picked to play as striker for Japan . Fulham ‘s youngster might take a few months . However we are far stronger, even if u want to include Kyogo, he hasn’t played for Japan in years yet our new striker is starting off on his Japanese striker’s career, according to BR, he is stronger and faster than Maeda.

You speak a lot of sense Wee dessie, when it comes to football matters you seem a switched on guy. I agree with you that we are stronger. Inamura is a class act and our defence is 100% stronger already with his arrival. Whether he plays at CB or LB so we are already stronger in that area.
Khun wasn't interested so were weaker by him just being here. Nygren is head and shoulders above Khun and can play as a 10 or a RW. Yamada will add the movement we were missing up top.
There's no doubt we are stronger and have barely spent a penny. There will be one or two more incomings which will add to a fantastic window!

How can we be stronger if we've let our best defender leave?

20 Jul 2025 20:45:13
We have a better player in Inamura?.

20 Jul 2025 21:06:22
DC
When did CCV leave?

20 Jul 2025 22:23:12
The question is not whether or not we have improved the squad.

The question is, is our squad ready for the upcoming season and able to compete on 4 fronts and achieve our targets.

I would say, we are not as there are a couple of positions still needing strengthened and our squad is not covered in all positions.

I am happy so far but there is still work to do.

20 Jul 2025 23:11:32
I was told that nawrocki was our best defender jonbhoy so if that's the case we are weaker defensively.

20 Jul 2025 23:25:52
Who is DC 71 referring to as our best defender

Weejoe surely with 5 weeks of transfer window left there is plenty of time to improve the areas of the squad that BR needs to be filled . The chances are weejoe may have different areas to improve than BR The Board and the recruitment team can only have one master . We are now arriving at specific positions that are in need of improvement and hopefully recruitment team and Board haveBR’s positions already sorted . Fans preferences may be more of a hindrance than a help . We are perfectly in line for an excellent window . Leaving us fans only having to do what we do best and that is roar on our team, for the whole match every match.

It’s not cricket Dc7591, we don’t have a role where a player takes the plaudits whilst not playing . Nobody in their right senses could claim Nawrocki as our best defender. A player who isn’t playing more than a handful of appearances in a season, just cannot be awarded and hailed as our best defender .
In all fairness BR in his two spells as Manager with us has proven that he knows his football and. footballers . He always picks the players he thinks will best suit the next game and the next challenge, he certainly isn’t stupid enough to not pick a player that there is something about him that he doesn’t like . Picking
Favourites is a sure way of losing .

21 Jul 2025 00:33:56
It was a mistake letting Nawrocki leave I agree.

21 Jul 2025 07:54:02
Seen a few people claiming he was our best defender so we must be defensively weaker.

@weedessie - I agree that the clubs signing priorities may be different from ours and that they are privy to information we do not have.

However, there are certain non negotiables, like we need to have at least two players for every position and sometimes 3 like the GK.

If we take LB, we only have Tierney and possibly Inamura. Obviously I don't know if Rodgers sees Inamura as the back up or he wants someone else but I do know we need 2 left backs by the end of the window.

I also know that Rodgers likes to have 5 CBS and at the moment we only have 3, 4 if you include Murray. That means we need 1 or 2 CBs brought in before window closes. Obviously I don't know if Rodgers sees Murray as 1 of the 5.

The same is true up front. We need 3 strikers and we currently have 4. However, we don't know what Rodgers thinks of yamada and if he is going to loan Kenny and/ or osmand. So we may or may not see 1 more striker arrive.

We know Jota is out until after Xmas which only leaves us with maeda. I reckon a top class LW on loan for 6 months would be best but Rodgers may want someone permanent.

We also know Kuhn has not been replaced so we need another RW as Nygren is going to play in midfield.

I don’t know when Rodgers declared he wanted 5 cbs and if he did, did he say one couldn’t come from our younger players . Our team is not made up of robotic units and only someone working with them daily can know for certain what’s needed . Celtic must be one of the few clubs who has fans who feel they know for certain exactly who and what they want for every position in the team, even for positions that the manager doesn’t any anyone . I’m lucky if I can pick 11 players for team, but then it isn’t my responsibility. All I want to do is enjoy watching Celtic play and encourage other fans to enjoy it, I don’t see my role to be creating doom and gloom by highlighting areas of team BR and Board have mixed out .
After an earlier match I expressed my disappointment that our youngsters had come back with a poor touch and could easily avoided that by just a little ball work before returning. We are now dealing with more ist teams and less youngsters and everyone is progressing well, we have reason to be happy.

21 Jul 2025 16:16:02
If you look at our recent squads under Rodgers. He has operated with 5 CBS. So while he has not stated this publicly (to my knowledge) , I am basing my opinion on what I have observed. Not only that Rodgers has stated publicly that he likes to work with a small squad. From my estimation that would likely be a 25-26 man squad and bring in youngsters as and when needed.

The boy Osmand from Fulham doesn't seem to have a first touch the couple of times I have seen him get a pass it bounces off him. This boy was really highly rated at Fulham supposedly. If he was that highly rated why didn't he play some cup matches down there. I know it's early to judge but personally I don't think he has it yet and will need a lot of training. it might be he was too nervous playing with the first team.

21 Jul 2025 19:35:12
I am not sure that he played FA Cup matches but I think he did play in Reserve team cup matches.

Fair too soon to judge this ex Fulham youngster, I am sure that most of us remember a recent youngster we signed from Fulham . Before our first league against the very young Sevco club ( founded in 2012) our confidence was shaken as we were missing our main h. nsskelper Leigh Griffiths and had to turn to our new rookie striker Dembele, and that worked out ok and a star was born, so we never know maybe we should give the 2025 option the same opportunity.

21 Jul 2025 19:49:15
Massive difference between dembele and osmond. Dembele had been a first team player at Fulham and was already scoring goals for Celtic before the sevco game.

{Ed007's Note - I wonder if West Ham fans are comparing Daniel Cummings to Frank McAvennie ?
