What a performance from the bhoys and rodgers last night. to a man absolutely superb. to start that campaign with a 7-1 thumping in Germany to being 20 seconds fae beating the German league leaders over 90 mins, the experience rodgers and those players take from it is invaluable. if we can keep that team and add 3/ 4 bits of quality in the summer we can have a real go again next season. Ed, what's the chances of us giving rodgers a new long term contract?
{Ed007's Note - It's been rumoured for a while that DD has spoken to Rodgers about a new deal so hopefully that's true and there will be something announced before the summer, we don't want to go into next season with Rodgers only having one year left.}

{Ed007's Note - I'd imagine that Rodgers wants assurances that the recent transfer window debacles will be a thing of the past, there is no way he will want to stay here if the board continue to fail getting him players he wants.}

You would imagine that Rodgers is going to be savvy and wait and see that the club are willing to continue to invest.
BR has done an incredible job and deserves the backing. I don’t seeing it being an issue as we will most likely bring in between £40 - £70M in transfer fees this summer.
The issue is replacing with a similar quality of player to that which we sell.

Edd a value your opinion as always, do you think the board are to blame for a CF not coming in on Jan, a think a read it sumwer BR spoke to the CF he wanted personally but couldn’t convince him to come in Jan.

Surely for once the board need to realise we've a top class manager, he said he wanted to improve us in Europe and I'd say in the main this campaign he's done so. come the summer if we can keep our best players and add 2/ 3/ 4 bits of quality rather than the usual 6/ 7/ 8 signings with potential that we don't need and fully back rodgers we can really kick on. the board have to back rodgers not just sit back and think this is this teams ceiling.

Let's hope he has made arrangements to meet the Board and Brendan to discuss our summer transfer budget and what our manager wants to bring in player wise.
With our healthy bank balance and circa £46m made from our CL adventure, surely there is no reason not to reinvest some of the CL money on the team.
My worry is our Board usually sell a big name player to fund transfers and the obvious player is Kuhn, who was already on the radar of big european teams.

I think there has been quite a change in our transfer dealings since BR got his feet under the manager’s desk this time round .
BR has told us clearly that he has the last word on players before we sign them .
Under Celtic’s old regime it was very easy for CEO, who was for example given names of 3 players that recruitment wanted us to sign one of them, CEO could and often offered club far too little and if price could be agreed, continue by offering the player too little. CEO could repeat and explain that he had done his best but couldn’t get any to sign. He, in the meantime had his favourite agents recommend a couple of players and manager worried that he wasn’t getting his position filled took player CEO offered .
BR is different, he won’t accept 2nd best, that’s what I interpret is what he meant when he said he had final say . CEO cannot play wee games with him as he knows BR has a standard of a player in mind and won't accept less . Last summer and Jan recruitment recommended a couple of strikers that BR agreed too, he dug his heals in and refused any inferior options, so despite BR saying in middle of window he needed a new striker, replacement for Kyogo, he couldn’t get standard he wanted and did without . That’s a big improvement than our old way.
