Celtic are closing in on a £6.5m deal for Farès Ghedjemis, with the move now said to be nearing completion — a major turnaround after talks were reportedly stalled just hours ago.
This one looked dead in the water earlier… now it’s full steam ahead.
this is the article that's posted today and its littered with negative comments
i get fans frustration but some people are going ott man.

Stephen McGowan has just came out on Sky and said this is not the case. Talks are frozen at a stand still because Celtic want to pay a lower initial amount but Frosinone want the majority upfront.
The Hungarian boy looked a better player to me. I’d have went for him and still hope we do. Can see this one dragging and either not getting done or being late into Monday deadline.

The transfer window closes on Monday night and, as usual, we're fannying about on Friday with a deal that might be on/ might be off.
World class Mickey, in everything you do.

Iam certain this is deliberate what a way to treat martin they should be ashamed of themselves.

The board are walking a very very thin tightrope, the brought back MON to steady the ship, he now needs players to finish the job and if they do not get the players he needs they could loose him as well as the fans.
30 Jan 2026 20:07:52
If we are spending 6.5 million i would rather we went for the boy from Motherwell.
30 Jan 2026 21:45:22
Out of the 2 players the lad redzic looks the better player and is much cheaper option plus he has been linked with Salzburg and a few other teams so he’s obviously highly rated we should be snapping him up for the 3 million being quoted rather than 6.5 for u relative unknown from serie b the problem we have is the board are waiting and trying to bump down price of the French lad and then if that doesn’t happen buy redzic he will be gone by the time we go back in for him absolutely shocking state of affairs just pay the money end of.

I don't think he is worth £6m. Panic buying always works out. £12m for two utter p ish wingers already. We jeed a matedfuelder as our current crop, all of them, have been MIA too often.
31 Jan 2026 10:37:01
Why aw the negative comments were signing a winger at 6 million so why yese aww moaning at it this disny make sense.
31 Jan 2026 11:01:48
The boys agent has apparently come out and said that his club have not received an offer that they find financially acceptable. If we want the boy, pay the money! We just got another £15m for qualifying for the play offs of the Europa league .
31 Jan 2026 12:59:19
We Aernt signing anyone more we tried bull and hard window nonsense even though every other club can sign players it’s all Nicholson he needs to go.
31 Jan 2026 18:33:56
Hes playing for his team right now. I don't think irs hapenuming.
31 Jan 2026 18:46:54
Okay, a couple of things. Celtic never got £15mil from getting to playoff round, who told you that nonsense.
The player is playing now Magic but the deadline shuts on Monday at 7pm. He could easily be on a plane after the game or tomorrow. However, I don’t think Celtic will sign anyone as they seem completely incapable of just offering what a player is worth to his team. I get we are a business but when every club in the world knows you need players for certain positions, they’ll not budge on prices. Pay it, take the hit and don’t let yourself be in that position again. Don’t sell a first team player before bringing in his replacement.

Is this the guy that's available for free in the summer?
31 Jan 2026 19:10:14
I don't keep anywhere near as up to date with anything like the volume of players across Europe that many of the posters on here do.
Therefore, for me, making an offer to Motherwell that includes Stephen Welsh, for the leagues top scorer, is a no brainer.
He's 22 years of age, has already settled and is performing in the league, having scored 18 goals in total for the season, so far, and is highly likely to feature on the shortlist for POTY - why wait?
He potentially has a great deal of improvement still to make and in a better Celtic side could score a lot of goals.
MON, get him signed.
{Ed007's Note - What if Welsh doesn't want to move to Motherwell permanently or take the drop in wages?}
31 Jan 2026 19:37:13
It's absolutely fine if Welsh has zero ambition and is only interested in featuring on the bench without any realistic chance of getting games for Celtic Ed, as a player under contract, it would be his perogative to stay at the club.
I'd like to see Celtic make a cash bid for the lad from Motherwell anyway.
As for Welsh, he can 'fight for his place' as 4th choice CB, and get released when his contract is up.
{Ed007's Note - Or his ambition is to play at a higher level than Motherwell. The lad's turned down moves when he was younger, he's got 18 months left on his contract and been treated like a piece of meat by Celtic and the support.
The "throw Welsh in" as part of a deal for Maswanhise like he should just agree to it isn't fair on him, him and his Mrs will be living their life according to his earnings could he meet his normal/household bills so easily on Motherwell wages?}
31 Jan 2026 19:48:58
Agree with you Celtic_Frank re signing the lad Redzic.
31 Jan 2026 20:36:17
Sumyimes the selling club will pay the difference in wages for the remainder of his contract am sure the cream buns fone that with sum1 when he moved.
31 Jan 2026 20:56:39
Okay, fair enough - I take your point Ed.
Now, whether what I've read is correct or not, Stephen Welsh is currently earning just under £10K per week at Celtic, that's the thick end of £500K per year before deductions.
He was never going to be the next Maldini and of late can't get a game in front of Trusty, hence why he was out on loan to Motherwell.
Unless there are several injuries, it would appear he'll be 4th choice CB at Celtic.
Therefore, he's within his rights to see out the remaining 18 months of his contract at Celtic, and then, if released, sign for another club. At his age, should he stay fit, he's got at least another two more transfers in him.
I'm not privvy to his household bills but I'd hope, even with the rising cost of living that clearing the thick end of quater of a million quid a year, young Stephen and his missus are able to get buy.
At the end of the day, I'm focused on the players who are currently, or will in the future, contribute to Celtic's success/ improvement.
Young Stephen doesn't fit into either category.
{Ed007's Note - If Welsh is on £10k a week he will have a mortgage, car leases and giving his Mrs the lifestyle of someone earning £10k a week. Without knowing his business lol say he's paying £5k a week for everything and Motherwell are offering him £4k which I seriously doubt btw, the drop in money would be worse than that imo.
The story was that FCC Welsh was recalled because Aberdeen wanted to buy him and a few other teams were sniffing around him, the terms of the deal were that he had to be recalled by the 14/15th to give Motherwell time to line up a replacement during the window and supposed to cover for the exit of Simpson-Pusey as MON said. Now it's a choice of 6 months at Celtic, a forced loan/move to Motherwell or Welsh will need to find a "summer playing" league club in maybe the MLS to buy him.}
31 Jan 2026 22:16:02
Celtic can well (no pun intended) afford to pay, in full, Welsh's contract, either by him staying at the club and seeing out his contract, or, if he agreed to move to Motherwell/ another club, as part of a deal that involved a player we wanted to sign moving in the opposite direction.
Regardless, I doubt that any supporter is either aware of, or actually cares what Stephen Welsh's mortgage or monthly outgoings are, why, because he's an adult earning plenty and that's both his business and responsibility to manage.
For all I kbow, his missus could be the main bread winner in his home e. g. solicitor, medical consultant, CEO of a company etc
If, however, his missus is a wannabe 'wag' who spends her day watching Loose Women and scrolling on her Swarovski crystal embezzled IPhone, spending Stephen's (not so hard earned) on crap via Mr. Besoz's site, then young Stephen might want to rethink his domestic set up.
Either way, I don't give a monkeys, I'm only interested in Celtic Football Club being the very best they can be, despite the obvious ongoing issues that plague the club.
All I'm saying, is please, pretty fuck*n please, someone at Celtic, make an offer to Motherwell for their top goalscorer and give them something to think about.
That's all.
