So despite the fanfare of trumpets about us spending a few quid, the reality is that this board has proven once again that they have learned absolutely effin nothing. Yet again we go into the largest potential money generating tie ( for the greedy bean counters ) of the season unprepared. Even if we sign anyone before the deadline, could that ever be considered being prepared. Why do we let other clubs dictate our transfer strategy, in or out.

We finally sort out most of the front end, after 2 years, and then weaken other areas. For any opponent to rattle your goal frame 5 x in one game shows you have deficiencies, in Europe, that could be tie over. Despite all the supposed links and targets we are still all fur coat and no knickers. We really need changes to board personnel before the next window.

Chasa a new board doesn’t fix everything, Celtic can’t have ten mill assets on bench for instance so our bigger assets and signings are done as replacements instead of before the players leaves ( aj example, had we signed a rb yes we would have had injury cover but after injury would have had two first team rbs and Celtic just don’t work like that) so that’s same for Engels and any other flat team leaver don’t expect anyone until after they go, we have sorted front line but definitely short lb which I agree isn’t great but board identified a player that picked up a slight knock, the reality you mentioned is we should win these games FACT, if we don’t then we don’t strengthen further, with money in bank I understand why some think this doesn’t make sense, but we’ve literally seen our rivals spank about 100 mill over 3 years for nothing and to be nowhere it could easily
Be us, we need to criticise failure but your rant I don’t think is merited, that team squad is good enough for Dundee, Dundee United and Kilmarnock and lask, at some
Point the being prepared part has to include the tools they have as well, selling Engles some don’t like but player pushed it thru, do y want an empty shirt playing?

Players brought in so far look like quality we have been missing. Granted a few more are needed but surely we should have more than enough to beat LASK?.

I'd rather we wait for the right players, although 2 seasons for a front line was ripping it, than do what they're doing and scatter gunning everything. They're going to have a bloated wage bill.

We've added quality but in reality net spend is in the green. Surely that's good business.

Now 2/ 3 more quality signings and no ones getting near us this season.

My main point is doing business earlier, have targets and timeframes for deals or move on. We need to try and control our own environment. The AE deal didn’t just pop up, it could and should have happened weeks earlier, the world and his dog knew he was going.

Chasa, that sounds great, but hogh for example we’ve been trying to convince since winter, once he agreed it was a swift move, i really don’t think it’s as easy as lining up players in advance and getting them in early anymore, there definitely will be opportunities but players need to want to come here, and it looks to me players wait to see if big leagues come calling, not mentioning the leagues lots juts deem better, if end month were in same situation then word for word your point will be relevant but right now I just don’t think so.

if the result didn’t come against lask loads will join your opinion as well, me not so much, if Celtic did go out a pre plan and buy
Big well in advance of any departures and be ready that would be great don’t get me wrong on that by the way.

We seem to put everything into the context of one window, (late) boom or bust. No transition planning. The squad for this season and attempt at Europe should have been taking shape from the last window. We need to be more proactive and less reactive. We have the means, we know players are using us as a stepping stone to the EPL, we know we are showcasing and will usually make profit.

And as a support, we have been having the exact same conversations for many, many years. And making the same mistakes. We need footballing people making football decisions and the dinosaurs could still be in the boardroom counting the profits. And not interested in hearing how difficult the winter window is, we usually make hard work of every window.

Nonsense we have millions in the bank. Twisting the facts won't change we are gambling once again. Is our midfield weaker or not.

18 Aug 2026 19:18:02
IMO yes, but going by some of the opinions when we rejected money for Engels in Jan that’s won’t be a common opinion over baur, and it’s definitely not weaker than lasks, we tried to keep him for games and player pushed move thru or mon talking nonsense.

Celtic aren’t a draw and cl means nowt yo potential Engel s replacement until we’re there, it’s not best scenario but it’s not worth wetting bed or reverting to the board bashing as uninformed fans ( as we are all in know way of knowing the ins and outs of any of this)

18 Aug 2026 21:14:51
We may not know the ins and outs but we’ve all witnessed the outcome on far too many occasions. 7 out of 9 failures in qualifiers.

I don't really think we can blame the board for Engles going at the weekend. He didn't want to play in Europe in case he got injured and West Ham didn't meet our asking price until the weekend. They also could have sold him for more in January and if they did a don't think we are sitting here double champions.

A think the game the morra will be a hard one as they like to play high press and overrun the midfield which is where we are weakest. Hopefully we don't fuck about at the back and hit them on the counter as we definitely have the fire power now. HH.
