Reading mkenna now favourite for fulham. irish ticks a Desmond box potential yes. risk yes but so are most appointments. If we moved for him it would be like the stauner sketch from chewing the fat in eds household.

Heard it would take 8m compensation to get him.

You can rule that out then.
{Ed007's Note - So the price for McKenna has went up by £3m since it was reported it would cost £5m to get him (and his staff) a few months ago, some places even reported the £5m was a release clause.
He's got a year to go in his Ipswich deal, no chance on earth the compensation would be £8m.}

Paying it is a huge commitment, Celtic should offer it if required to show him it.

Out of interest Ed, as your top choice, would you pay 8m for McKenna IF that was the figure required to appoint him?
{Ed007's Note - Probably yes, then just put a clause in his Celtic contract of the same or more, even at £6m it would only cost us £2m in the long run if he was "poached" further down the line.}

He's taking a risk going to Fulham, they are on a slide over the last few seasons and will be in the relegation battle next season.
I think he could have done something with Celtic but we seem to be heading towards another c*****r f**k of a close season and will be handed a Manager who a large section of the fans don't want and who isn't good enough for the job.

Surely it is better paying 8 m compensation than giving it to the taxman?
{Ed007's Note - True dat....

Fulham haven't been on a slide the past few seasons, think you may be thinking of someone else. They have been comfortably mid table since they went back up and were 2 points away from Europe this season just past.
Not saying its a great achievement but wouldn't call it a slide. If he gets the Fulham job I'd expect him to be aiming for top 10 at least and possibly a European spot.
