Seen some people on here saying we all love MON.

Well I for one don’t.

I’m old enough to remember him saying that Ross Desmond was right to say what he said at the AGM.
I’m old enough to remember him referring to the Glasgow derby as the OF and referring to DD as the owner.
I’m also old enough to remember the turgid football the bizarre substitutions and the dreck he brought in in January.

So I don’t believe he was responsible for us winning the league, I think it was much more down to getting Engels, Johnston and Maeda back combined with Hearts and Rangers bottle crashing.
Hearts 1 away win in last 7, Rangers losing 4 in a woe.

I also think we are far too caught up in the manager appointment and ignoring the real problem that is the Desmond’s and an incompetent BOD. If that doesn’t drastically change then it’s irrelevant who is in the dugout.

All of that said I thank MON, acknowledge his win record and wish him all the best in his retirement.

Agree7 Disagree0

How old are you?

02 Jun 2026 13:14:50
Why you thanking him when it was all down to named players coming back and baby buns n daddy buns crashing ??‍♂️what you say about DD i agree but doesn't look like they going anywhere, MON/ Keane combined gor me bcoz nothing else seems to b looked at.

Feck me that's a hard one to digest, just enjoy the double he won and we'll not mention the mess he inherited.

02 Jun 2026 13:41:52
. more apt to slaughter rogers who sneaked out again for a bigger pay leaving us in the lurch again. if you don't like oneill we could bring back nancy. now that was real turgid football. and to end your post on thanking him for his win record was correct. as that was what his team done. won a league and cup double.

02 Jun 2026 14:04:00
It was all down to Martin O’Neill.
His league record from 23 games was-
Won 19 Drawn 2 Lost 2.

Martin also won all the domestic cup games he was involved in including beating Sevco in both cup competitions.
He also won us our first European away match in 4 Years.
Also under Martin - Celtic won in Germany for the first time.

You’re Old enough to remember you have a short memory ?.

02 Jun 2026 14:19:26
I didn’t say I didn’t like MON, I said I didn’t love him.

Was merely pointing out that imho he is a board apologist and his football was turgid.

What's this old enough to remember talk? I thought I was going to read something about MON very very 1st stint at the club. Kept reading and reading. Then realised I wasted my time on a post that is absolute rubbish.

I'm old enough to remember. Either that's a mid print, you don't know how to write or you have short term memory lose and think this season was yester year.

MON came into a shambles twice and got the team winning. Maybe not pretty stuff but winning.

Granted he or someone else rolled the dice on the Jan loan signings which turned out to be every bit as bad as the summer signings. But he Sone how managed to get us over the line.

I think your post is very disrespectful to a club legend.

Board apologist he called them out often and was instrumental in the GB guess getting sorted, how many times did ask for unity that was a dig at the board to get it sorted because he knew how crucial it was to get them in for the run in, you are clearly in the minority who doesn't like Martin but crack on.

Our board are the problem, 100%. They were found sleeping at the wheel and look what it actually cost us last year. Another year in the Champions League and we could be even further ahead of the rest. You could almost have suspicion that the whole collapse was planned to give the others a chance to get back in the race. We lost a league cup that should have been a certainty because of our manager experiment and let's not forget we were penalties away from going out the Scottish Cup and fortunate not to come third in the league.
The fallout from that would have been 100 times worse than the opinions today. The board think they've got away with one here.

We need to be on them like a cheap suit over the summer because they will now be feeling untouchable. They have the distraction of a World Cup to hide behind in their board room and we cannot let them think all our protests from last year have come to nothing.
I have made a stand by giving up my ST for personal reasons but with the current problems at the Club influencing a large percentage of my decision to do so. I cannot keep laying £650+ every year to watch the same pantomime play out.
I can definitely understand where Paythefacepainters opinion is based. The way the Club is being run is an absolute shambles.

Show me where I said didn't like MON or show me anything that was inaccurate.

I like MON, I just liked him more when he was signing players like Lenny and Sutty as opposed to the deadline day dreck.

Ptfp to be fair there isn't many managers about interested that could have got us over the line in that season. It's unreal how poor recruitment has been, not just this season, but it's been shocking since the initial Ange rebuild. Who knows if it was MoN that identified those players or if those players was the pick of a bad bunch that the scouts had identified for him at such short notice.

Balikwisha was monitored for many windows, so what hope did MoN have with a last minute dossier of available players to try convince to join. The board and their biscuit tin mentality lost us some decent players who could have made this season a lot easier than it needed to be.

02 Jun 2026 21:24:12
I reckon if if O’Neil had been manager of the monkeys or hearts he’d have won the league with either team, a proper manager, if it’s no him he’s a hard act to follow.

02 Jun 2026 23:55:32
The board and some of our fans want us to be quiet but it's not going to happen. The divide will remain at the club until Desmond and his lackys are gone. If some fans fall out with us, then so be it, I can live with yhat.

Ross Desmond was right.
