balikwisha 1 assist 0 goals in 400min
tounetki 3 goals 0 assists in 1960min
forrest 1 goal no assists in 930min
yang 6 goals 1 assist in 1636min
maeda 8 goals 8 assists in 2631min
nygren 14 goals 6 assists in 2272min
16 assists between them is pathetic. I know a good striker would improve these stats but only by so much. 1 good winger should be assisting 25/ 30 goals a season on his own.
balikwisha 1 goal contribution in 4.5 90min
tounetki 1 goal contribution every 7.5 90min
forrest 1 goal contribution every 10.5 90min
yang 1 goal contribution every 2.5 90min
maeda 1 goal contribution every 2 90min
nygren 1 goal contribution every 1 90min
These stats from our wide players are overall very very poor.
Balikwisha, Tounetki and Forrest have been empty jerseys with the 2 new boys 2 of the worst signings in living memory. Tounetki is a poor mans Mikey J. Forrest is done and should do the right thing at the end of the season and walk away. Yang has improved this season and has shown to be an ok squad player but his stats still are not great. Maedas stats are ok for a wide man but way way below the standards he set last season. A shadow of his former self.
Nygren for me is the only wide player we have that can be satisfied with their contribution. He is still not my cup of tea but at least he is contributing and its really hard to properly rate him with the trash he's playing with.
For me our wide areas need completely overhauled as this is a now a far cry from when we could call on kuhn, abada or jota.

Apparently JF getting a new 1 year deal ? Been a tremendous servant but time to go with our blessing and many thanks imo.

Don't think nygren is a wide player much more affective from central area.

Our wingers have been underwhelming tbh.
Last night Tounekti tried getting past his defender but was beaten for speed, so he didn't try again. That seems to be a regular issue with him, beaten once so he comes inside our backwards.
It is worrying Jamsie is being offered a new deal. He has been great for us but surely we should have enough strength in depth to be able to let him go or give him a coaching job.
Damir Redzic is a name linked with us. He looks a really good player, fast, tricky and can score with both feet. Def worth buying.
There is also a winger in French 2nd division we are apparently in negotiation with his club.
Redzic looks the better player but RB are apparently looking at him, so we might be goosed.
We still need steel in midfield and a quality cb and striker.
Huge amount of work to get the deals for the players we really need to get done and we are down to a couple of days.
Shocking we are at this point with no deals on the horizon.

Standards have slipped since we had Jota, Maeda, Abada and JF in their best form and the current batch are well below Celtic class. Nygren has done very well and has an eye for goal playing as an 8 or 10, but tends to disappear from games for long spells after his goal.

25 plus assists from 1 player? Behave.

I agree with much of what you've posted DT, except Nygren is not a winger and to be fair and he's chipping in with goals. Nygren for me, in an ideal world where we had a squadcwith strength and depth, would be on the bench.
I'd compare his contribution to CalMac, Hatate and Engels, as a midfielder.
Maeda has had his purple patch last season and will likely be away in the summer.
Yang, IMO, not anywhere near consistent or good enough and needs moved on.
Forrest, why oh why we're having any conversation with him that doesn't end in goodbye is lost on me. He was done 4 years ago.
We've got a guy out on loan, Palma, who's better than Yang and Forrest combined.
Balikawasha is a shambles in my view, and needs to be punted, Tounekti I'd give him a chance although he hasn't set the heather alight.
Other than Jota, based on past performance, we could effectively be looking for a minimum of 2, possibly 3 wingers.
Unfortunately, a similar conversation can be had with the GK position, the defence and the midfield.
Lastly the bench is weaker than Michael Nicholson.
All in all, the family silver has been sold by the board, the first team squad asset stripped and replaced with crap resulting with with the product on the park being inferior.

DerryTim, I think you are forgetting what James Forrest has done for Celtic in his long trophy laden career, he is Celtic’s most decorated player of all time and has over 100 goals and over 100 assists so to mention him in the same article as Balikwisha, Tournekti and Yang is totally wrong ?.

Absolutely appalling comments about Forrest. He's been a great player and maybe he wants to see out his remaining time at the club he loves instead of going out to pasture in USA or Dubai.

I think he meant 25 goal contributions not assists but agree our regular wingers should be hitting those numbers (in a full season) . I don't mind Forrest as the 5th winger. Cover for an injury or two or comes on to keep possession up their end of the pitch to see out tight games. I'd give him another season but after next season, probably not. If we get Ghedjemis in then we him and Jota next season if we have any qualifiers to contend with.
The rest I'd sell and reinvest as they're not up to the standards. We can all agree the whole squad needs an total overhaul, which may be too big to do in one window. We will still need to find a new #1 GK, better cover at RB, RCB, A CF or two and sort that midfield out as well.

Forrest is finished though. There is no place for sentiment in football anymore. It’s a waste of a wage for very little in return.
Same can be said for majority of that squad.
