Does anyone think the board will have a manager in place to go in for the end of the season? I personally think we won't get one before the end of June going with the current track record of our board.
{Ed007's Note - It might well depend on how Portugal do at the World Cup.}

You could be correct Ed but that will be mid July? Hardly time for getting a squad sorted or a plan B if our first choice goes South.
{Ed007's Note - Didn't MON spend his very first summer as Celtic manage being a BBC pundit at Euro 2000? There's no training or that going on so there's no reason Maloney can't be working away on recruitment. Most managers will be sitting on a sun longer somewhere all through June and most of July.}

Mark Guidi said he would b astounded if it was Martinez, am sure there's a reporter you said Edd that wasn't to bad with info was it him mate.
{Ed007's Note - Go and tell him this Mark be astounded too ??

It still doesn't seem ideal. And if we have to go for a plan B how long will it take our great board to choose another? Then the new guy would have to assess the squad see who we won't be getting. I just think until the board change considerably we will be stuck as a club in a rut .
{Ed007's Note - It would be need to be all signed, sealed & delivered Tony but he is out of contract after the World Cup so there's no reason it can't be....
For all we know he is having an input on transfers just now IF it is going to be Martinez or even someone else.
All this stuff about not buying players in case the new manager doesn't want them, if you sign quality in the majority of positions what manager wouldn't want them? A big strong, quick dominant CB and CDM and a 20 goal a season striker, what manager doesn't want those type of player?}

The World Cup will be a good scouting mission.
Martin’s first signing was Joos Valgaeren who he seen as a pundit, playing for Belgium against Larsson and Mjallby for Sweden at the European Championships in 2000.
{Ed007's Note - ?

We need quality in certain areas, it was why even under Nancy (who we knew wouldn’t last ) if we signed quality it wouldn’t matter, thank god though as it looked as if quality
Was far from what may have came in,
Some decent posts tonight Celtic65 promising 4 signings next week and Ed promising Martinez,
Settled sleep maybe.
{Ed007's Note - I'm not promising anything ??

If we win the league and don't appoint a manager to mid July then we can likely kiss next year's cl goodbye as I'm sure we have to play qualifiers and would not have a manager.

Joe man it’s a valid opinion, but if a random person quoted you and asked me who I thought said that, I’d have picked you out first time no probs .
It depends on signings for me, what we bring in this month, injuries retiring fit, and what a new manager gets in door quickly, wether it’s a manager that’s at World Cup or working at World Cup so didn’t come in to mid July, I’m expecting those decisions made before mid July, so players needed / if there needed also in door quickly.
With us needing a full football side overhaul is a sporting director position more important than manager? We know the clubs we want to be like, can we go get the people we need and who have been a success.

Buzz,
Venglos signed Mjallby?.

@jaa - that was a verbose way of saying you are right Joe.

Nancy's "system" (3-4-3) might have had a chance if he picked 3x CDs with the purpose of defending, rather than auxiliary wingers. The clown will be a failure wherever he goes if he continues with his gung-ho beliefs!
