I don't believe Ronnie was a successful Celtic Manager with the results on the pitch but he did help build a good team that Brendan got the best out off.
In Ronnie's 2 league campaigns,
Celtic were struggling in about 20 league games with 15 minutes remaining in each match.
Celtic would only gain extra points in 3 of those games with late winners at home to Partick Thistle and away wins at Aberdeen and Kilmarnock.
No late draws were managed.
If we were losing with 15 minutes remaining then we lost.
Celtic also lost more late points in 3 of those games at Kilmarnock, Aberdeen and Hearts in the last few minutes.
The outcome would not change in all the remaining games.
Thats why I don't buy into us having a fit squad under Ronnie but maybe it was a combination that he couldn't change the tactics to gain extra late points.
I will remember Ronnie fondly for helping to build a squad good enough to win an Invincible Treble.
But not for his own results on the pitch.
Definitely no chance of a third season.

Remember sevco were no threat then, Ronnie should have won the lot and he's not exactly went onto have a wonderful trophy laden career.

I laugh when I read comments about the football being rubbish under Ange at the end.
In his last season Celtic had won 30 league games Drawn 1 and Lost 1 in our first 32 league matches.
Yes Ange dropped points when we were miles ahead when he started giving our fringe players game time.
He beat Sevco at Hampden in both Cup competitions and he also secured a never done before 8th Domestic Treble.
I don't see it happening but Ange is still our best and safest option we have available.

Deila won 2 League titles and a League Cup. With no competition in the league the players went through the motions during league games in half empty stadiums.

To be fair Ronnie was cheated out of a Treble in his first season.
Celtic should've been awarded a penalty against ICT to go 2-0 ahead with Championship club Falkirk waiting in the Final.
Ronnie did set good foundations for better things to come.

That one still irks me to this day Buzz, I have never seen a worst decision in my life. I remember the Caley defender stopped a shot on the line like a goalkeeper, what made it worse is this was when they had an extra official beside the goals . This as you say would of put us 2 up and Caley down to 10.

Honest mistake.

Ronnie was the greatest manager we ever had, but he was the worst manager we ever had.

That's right Stevie because Caley would also be down to 10 men.
I was behind the opposite goals up at the back and I could see like everyone else the very clear handball.
What makes it worse was McLean's view wasn't obstructed and that weasel Muir was just a cheat.
How it took another 10 years for Muir to get the boot speaks volumes.
