Just imagine we had a competent board who could do succession planning and get deals over the line.
If that were the case we would be starting today with a really good right winger and a top class striker instead of johnny Kenny and would not have yamada anywhere near our first team.
We also would not have bought iheanacho as he is not suited to our system, which would mean having a good striker on the bench today.

Just imagine we had an elite manager.

Then he would still have a board that didn't back him and who regularly failed to strengthen in the transfer market.

They haven’t backed him?
Over both his spells he’s been well backed financially, even this summer they spent roughly £14 mil.
While I agree with you our board has been incompetent, our manager is not without blame.

The backing was nowhere near what it should have been, we got to August and had a qualifier they knew we needed to win and we never even had the 2 wingers in, and if we had have qualified they were going into the premier tournament with a squad nowhere near good enough, feck pep couldn't navigate that.

We had a negative net spend, there are major deficiencies in our team and squad and we had plenty of money to invest. We also did not get any significant signings in before the champions s league qualifiers.
In my book that is a failure to succession plan and a failure to back the manager.

Supa1888,
we are weak in every area of the first team squad and that's not down to the manager.
We sold our first (Kyogo) and second (Idah) choice strikers and replaced them with a free transfer 5 minutes before the summer transfer window shut.
Now our (available) first choice striker has scored a total of 2 goals for Celtic, of the 'alternatives', neither is listed in the Europa League squad with one never having played a game at senior level.
That sounds like a player recruitment issue to me ?.

Maybe spent £14M but sold £30M worth of talent for another tidy profit for the Celtic Board that makes us weaker on the pitch.
26 Oct 2025 11:14:41
Pedro it is even worse than that as we signed iheanacho after the window was closed and if it had not been for Rodgers contacts we would have had Kenny as our number 1 striker and yamada/ Osman as number 2.

I’m not saying there isn’t an issue with the board or our recruitment, not at all lads. Our issues with recruitment go a lot further back than just this summer.
But it’s up to the manager to get the best out of the squad he has, which for me, we still have the best squad in Scotland, he’s not doing that.
He’s flying under the radar because of the discontent towards the board.
The rot with Rodgers started after the Bayern game, the Rangers games, Clement worked him out, Barry Ferguson had his number, and then the cup final. And regardless of transfers, the squad we had at the time should have had enough to beat Kiarat, to not score against them in 210 min of football was criminal.

Barry Ferguson had his number. ?
We started to spiral down because we no longer had kyogo and there was no suitable replacement, which made us less effective. Selling kyogo cost us the treble in my opinion.

Ma sides are sore Barry has his number take the rest of the league had Barry's number.
