"The board shares the ambition of our supporters to see the strongest possible team on the pitch and will continue to balance short-term performance with long-term financial stability, and we must factor in the long-term implications of all decisions made today. This strategy is vital to Celtic and has been pivotal to our success over the last 20 years. "
These are the words of Peter Lawwell. The bit that stood out for me is the bottom bit about our success over the last 20 years.
What success is that Peter? Because all the league titles/ trebles and domestic dominance is not down to how Celtic Fc is run but more to do with the fact our only rival was caught cheating, stealing and paid the ultimate price by getting liquidated.
We have upwards of 20 times the budget of the nearest rivals after they died. There would be something inherently wrong if we didn't acheive what we have.
Dominating like we have in scotland is not a success but the absolute bare minimum that should be expected while that other mob re establishes their new club.
And as for Europe over the last 20 years i see very little success as your penny pinching has held us back at that level and have even embarressed us most seasons.
Europe is the level where success or failure tells and we have failed embarrassingly this past 20yrs.
Im not interested in you flapping your gums about success domestically as its been like racing a ferarri against a horse and cart every season. Not a success but to be expected.
Your likes for me will always be remembered for how far our club got to in terms of potential, and you Peter have failed miserably.
Sooner you f*ck off the better for everyone.

MN says they always want cl football which is a blatant lie or they'd tool up early every year there's a qualifier, then he lists the signings he made, which half of them cost next to nothing must think we're all daft, then says they've enhanced the match dsy experience i certain parts of the stadium, i must have missed that gecause its not my area couldn't mark his neck with a blow torch.

I share your sentiments dery tim and while they did not tell me anything new, they did confirm what I already suspected, that we were cash rich and had plenty of scope to invest in our squad and infrastructure if we had chosen to do so.
I mentioned on another post, that my anger towards these guys in their ivory tower is only growing.
Yes they have contributed to our domestic success but their reluctance to invest enough and at the correct times has cost us hundreds of millions in lost revenue and more domestic trophies. As you rightly pointed out, we are miles ahead of the opposition in Scotland and if we had been managed correctly we would have been out of sight and uncatchable. However, our board have repeatedly dropped the ball when we have been at our strongest.

Mally, I always want to win Euro millions but I don't buy a ticket, so it is highly unlikely I will. Remind you of anyone at our club?

Derry Tim. That’s a great post and I think accurately sums up where we have been and are. We should have done so much more in Europe. I am not a guy that thinks we should be blowing our budget every year but we could/ should be doing better.
I think the disappointment of not being in the CL is going to last all season and being in the Europa will not soften the blow for the majority of fans!

Does our club have a PR Executive in house, if we have then they need sacked.
Surely someone was spoken to before they put out last week's message and then MN one yesterday and somehow thought these nessages would placate the support and explain the window.
To come out and say that they all want what is best for Celtic after selling 2 our our top players, not replacing them and then failing to sign any of our genuine transfer targets, ending up with a loan striker.
Louie Montaneau and another decent striker would have set us back 10-12 million maybe 15 at a push, which would still have left us in profit in the window and left a substantial bank balance. We would still be in CL and if not would have a good run in EL, not convinced we still will.
To use the players we have loaned out as part of the finance problem, as we still pay their wages is down to them asking too much for them when teams wanted to buy them or changed our minds at the last minute.
I am not naive enough to shout for all the board to go because that will never ever happen but we need modernisation and people who understand the modern football business.
We do make money but with a less pragmatic business process and a more risk averse approach, like similar sized clubs in other countries, we could make more money.
We will never win the CL but actually competing, with full stadiums, reaching the latter stages, pay for themselves, so how can our board not understand that.

Yip if we were progressive once we qualified for CL it should become the minimum. We have regressed.
