I think we need to acknowledge our dependence on CL money which, together with good transfer fees, has the club financially in a good place. My point is if we suffer say a 2 or 3 year run without the CL money, the relative richness we currently enjoy will gradually evaporate. As long as we largely rely on that income source, it's a kind of hand to mouth existence given we're trapped in the Scottish goldfish bowl.

I read Kenlike's post below about the club hedging it's bets before spending big until CL qualification is assured and agree this seems to have happened in previous years and has bitten us on the arse.
To maintain a top manager and our better players, CL football is a priority for the club financially and as a means to improve and progress in Europe, while maintaining our pole position domestically. For several seasons we also supplemented income by selling our top players (Dembele, KT, Edouard, MOR etc) . Now we can add Khun and even Kyogo to some extent and it's imperative we replace or add better.

Maybe we're first of all waiting to see who our opponent is going to be.
Would I be right in saying once we know any player (s) we bring in won't be able to play through missing any transfer deadline for the playoff?

Then why say at every egm that all profits will get spent on the team when that's clearly not the case.

I don't agree with that assesment as we don't get the European money until end season and it has an affect on next year's budget not this years.
We already know the budget for this season.

It's also difficult to attract the players we want unless we can guarentee CL football but to do that we first need to qualify so it's a catch 22. I'm sure there is plenty of work being done on the transfer front to get players in.

I thought that the claim was that all the profits from transfer window was put back into football side of the club . That could mean pitch relaying, training equipment, gym equipment, hiring of more improved recruitment staff and football coaches and many other miscellaneous items.

Without even looking at champions league money, or any other money safely tucked away in the bank we've took in £6 million on Frimpong going to Liverpool, £2 million on Lagerbielke going to braga, £17 million on Khun going to Como, Cummings left for a small fee to West ham, and the likes of Yang, Kwon etc will likely move on also, so without touching any money in the bank we've taken in north of £25 million this summer. add to that £10 million for Kyogo back in january, sold out season tickets again, probably 4 or 5 new strips this season and training merch etc. there's more than enough money there to do good business without depending on champions league money.

It’s only a couple of months ago since fans were making strong claims that the Board need to build a new south stand spending in excess of £100k . According to some other fans other facilities are an embarrassment, so I suppose our fans taking into account Lennoxtown, Barrowfield and Celtic Park itself upgrades carried out last season would mean at least £150 k at a very conservative estimate. 6/ 7 players in based on prices we had to pay last season for midfield and striker would amount to over £60m
I can see our massive amount of money dwindling away to nothing and our fans accusing our Board of wasting our money on a stadium that was completely fit for purpose and wasting money on too many players when less would do.

I think the point is being missed again from my assessment, regardless of what we bring in the club never spend big when we haven’t qualified for the UCL. I’m not refuting we’ve brought in lots of Money.
I am pointing out the repetition in how the Celtic board operate.
Regardless of when the UCL money is paid into Celtic's accounts. It doesn’t matter for the club who are working a year in advance anyways. It would be negligence at a high level to ignore that from a financial standpoint.

I appreciate how well the Celtic Board have operated for this century as an example . we dominated Scottish Domestic Football . Celtic have won 18 titles and Rangers one . The. remainder have been claimed by cheating Rangers1872 who cheated to the extent of match fixing in the most horrendous fraud ever in European Football .
It shows how exceptionally honourable our Board have been to remain honest and spending well within their means as Rangers cheated HMRC, any bank that loaned them money, fellow Scottish clubs and even the local face painter .
Let’s remember face painter owed £40+ and Rangers didn’t pay them . How could they even think of claiming these fraudulent titles.
