Before I begin, I want to make it clear that this isn't a criticism of the board, just my opinion and hope for the club.
When Kyogo left in January, it left us with only one recognised first team striker. That's a major concern when you're competing on multiple fronts. If Idah had picked up an injury, we'd have been down to the bare bones in that position.
I understand we tried to bring someone in during January but were unsuccessful. In my opinion, that played a part in costing us a potential treble.
Given that, I had hoped that securing a replacement for Kyogo would be our number one priority this summer, along with strengthening the left-back position. Other areas of the squad may need upgrades, but those two seem the most urgent.
With our first competitive match just a few weeks away and pre-season already underway, I'm puzzled as to why we haven't brought anyone in yet. Signing players early gives them time to settle in, understand what Rodgers expects, build chemistry with teammates, and give the manager a proper chance to assess them.
The longer we wait, the more difficult it becomes. Targets move elsewhere, prices go up, and we risk rushing into a deal out of desperation.
I'm confident that if you asked Rodgers or the fans, whether we wanted a striker signed before pre-season, the answer would be a resounding yes. So, come on Celtic, let's get this done. The same goes for left-back, unless Inamura is the solution there.

It's the Celtic way Weejoe. Usually slow and ponderous in the transfer market. I'm a BR fan but on that level, I fear, (other than what seems a yearly upturn in performance which lasts over the Autumn and early winter) , another season of sterile football. All that said, we win things and at the end of the day I'm grateful for that. So here's to a legitimate 56.

WeeJoe it looks like we are pushing for a striker/ false 9 type player. I do think Inamura will be understudy to Tierney? Or do you think the club are happy to keep scales in that position?

Of course Weejoe most of us have no problem agreeing with your post . I am quite sure Celtic have identified and have shown interest in a number of strikers who hopefully could. fit in and be very successful within our price range .
I think there is no doubt that the teams holding the Registration of the top of the range strikers that we want are not interested in selling now. These teams and players agents have one thing in common, they will hold out to get the best deal for player .
We sold Kuhn early because player wanted out and he had become a bad influence around the place .
Hopefully we get a new striker, centre back and other positions filled this month.

@ken I think it is too early to say if Inamura will be KTs backup but it could be an option as Brendan spoke well off him after the match. Personally speaking I think we need 2 left backs and an academy left back, so we have cover on the bench if it gets injured.
I don't see scales playing left back unless our squad is decimated.
{Ed007's Note - So after a friendly against Cork City, a CB playing at LB who 2 days ago the manager never wanted & would be one of the reasons he would leave in the summer - if he sticks around that long - is good enough to play in the CL if KT misses a game in it?
Celtic will sign another LB to cover KT.}

I can understand the concern and the apprehension because it has happened so often before - especially when we have CL qualifiers.
Not saying we are not being pro-active in our transfer business, but we never learn from previous mistakes and hesitation. Celtic need CL football for the prestige, the experience and the cash. Selling Kyogo and now Khun (even Palma) , and with Jota sidelined without having replacements in place has put us at a disadvantage financially and practically.

My tuppence worth is this, after the idah saga? 5 mill becoming 9 knowing we were desperate, they are ( hopefully) in talks with a striker . This stupid club tournament is also holding up / distracting / teams holding on to players until its finished. Surely the board, scouts, Brendan have identified a striker? Hopefully when kyogo left? . There is also sorting meada deal . Will he stay? Does he want to try pastures new? Is it a back up striker or a main striker? A lot of if, buts amd nibbles! But to quote edd007 favourite blogger, do we just want to sign " action man heads " like across the water . More revolution and rebuilds than a civil war .
