A genuine question re back up LB.

Would James Penrice, who's leaving Hearts bound for Greece, could he have been a viable option for us given his age and fee of only £2M?

Rather have given Greg Taylor his wage request.

He probably would, but why would Penrice want to play back - to K Tierney, when our own Greg Taylor wasn’t prepared to do so . He upped his young family and went to Greece, rather than play 2nd fiddle.

Wee Dessie, apples and pears.

Let me see;- perhaps because of his age and relative inexperience at a club who perform at a far lower level than Celtic.

The fact he'd be training day in, day out, with a player who's won more medals than he can dream of, as well as playing in a team full of champions with a superior coaching staff that could improve him as a player.

Offcourse, there's always the longer term plan that he'd be the successor to KT and be first choice at LB for the most successful team in Scottish football history.

Lastly; titles, cups, european football and 60,000 fans singing his name every home game? But you're right, he's probably better off in Greece - a country he's probably only been to on a lads holiday, a climate he'll never get used to and a language he's highly unlikely to ever be able to learn.

That's a good response Pedro ??

Playing devil's advocate here but perhaps he's been assured that he's going there as first choice. Also, do you know he's 26? He's a decent player in Scotland but at that age I think that's all he is. Would probably do a job as back up no doubt, but for 2m we'll find a younger back-up somewhere in Austria or Poland that the club will see as an investment.

Pedro with Greg Taylor having been born in Greenock and raised in Gourock I think you will find the climate is similar to Greece. as a fellow Inverclyde native I can vouch for the warm rain for starters.

Pedro, it’s difficult to know what anyone else’s mind is thinking, personally I am not sure what my own mind is thinking from time to time .
I am led to believe that most footballers want at a certain stage of their life to be a regular on their club team . Not understanding Greek may be no problem for people his age as they they could manage to get by with an international expression of interest . Life in tourist Greece for a single man may have more to offer than for a married man with young children who maybe confined to his home.
