DEAL OR NO DEAL
Some reports saying Lyon willing to offer Motherwell £8m for Lennon Miller
IF TRUE ( a BIG IF) would Celtic match it and is the boy, talented as he is, worth £8m at this present time
I think if Motherwell deal at £4m we plough in.

£8m these days is no money at all for teenage player with any degree of promise. It's a punt clubs like Lyon are willing to take as they know if it works out the next transfer fee will easily be £20/ 30m.
It's whether or not we can afford a similar gamble, If Lyon pay that money and he bombs they'll probably still get £4/ 5m back from a championship club who'll take a punt. But if he bombs at us there's not really anywhere we can shift him onto that will generate that kind of money.
Personally I think we should go all in on him, we missed out on McGinn and let the likes of Lewis Ferguson get away, from what I've seen of Miller he will be one of Scotland's best midfielders in the next few years (and we need the best Scottish player we can get due to the 8/ 25 rule, bear in minc Calmac won't be playing forever) .

Lyon are in major financial difficulty, so I doubt the story is true.

I can’t see any club paying £8M for a teenager playing for Motherwell, especially when they can get him for nothing on a pre-contract in January.

Afternoon All
I posted a few months ago that Celtics would go "All in" to buy Lennon Miller.
(I also thought it would happen in the recent January window) .
I think the transfer fee will be in region of £5m - £6m.
Worth every penny in my imo and certainly very much a long term investment who would enhance our playing squad.

The Sevco 4/ 9d fans are convinced he's going to them, and it reminds me of the Scott Brown scenario 20+ years ago.

If Celtic reallywant to buy Lennon Miller they will have to at least nearly match Motherwell’s valuation of him . Celtic are in a sound financial position which means that if they really want Lennon Miller and if he is as good as many on here claim him to be there is no point in Celtic not going beyond £4-£5 m, if we could buy him for £7-£8m .
If Celtic have to give £8-£9m for LM and he turns out to be good value for money then he is a bargain . If we buy him for £4m and he has difficulty getting a permanent place in Celtic midfield’s then he is poor value at £4m .
We have bought enough players over the last couple of years to know that often players take a full season to find their feet with us . We shouldn’t rush to decide that player is a bargain or just not good enough to play for Celtic.

We also need to weigh up who'll still be here at Parkhead next season and what positions are up for grabs. If we lose a midfielder or two then sure, there'll be a space. If not then how could we keep everyone happy.

There may already be a slot for him as Holm is likely to leave. That being said it is possible that Rodgers sees young Bonnar in that squad place.

If we want to improve and expect to have a better run in Europe next yr, we will have to improve our squad . To improve squad we need at least one quality midfielder. This quality midfielder will take the place of Holm . That means we have the same number of midfielders next season as this season . Unless BR knows in the summer that a player can step up and play a regular role for ist team we will have to buy a 2nd midfielder.
