Am I right in thinking we can offer the new bhoy a contract in january as he is free in the summer? ED

{Ed007's Note - Yep.}

Sorry but I think that's it now they have an appeal hearing on monday I think this is going to end badly for us i'm afraid

matt231988

1.) I can't see cas over ruling uefa to let them back in they broke the rules accidental or not! What kind of precedent would this set if a player is banned and he plays threw a ban then the rules clearly state the match is a forfeit! it's rules not different strokes for different folks .

2.) No doom and gloom boys. The rule and punishment are in black and white. Legia broke the rule and the fixed punishment was applied. No grey area. The player did not nearly come on the field of play, he DID come on. He was still banned. Their argument is about fair play. If they overrule EUFA then might as well toss out the book and deal with each problem as it arises. My only concern would be the history of Legia in relation to using financial inducements to gain results. However, I would suspect EUFA, like FIFA, are above that sort of thing.

3.) Wouldnt worry too much about it. At the end of the day Legia fans (like any other teams fans) would cause an uproar if club didn't exhaust every channel

4.) I agree with DN30, they are letting their fans know they are trying but the facts are they used a banned player.Its black and white, a paper shuffling exercise.

Just read that cas said that they can still fast track for monday without uefa agreeing have you heard this ed or anyone?

matt231988

1.) Heard this on Snyde tonight! Could have swore a heard Johnstone snigger as the news broke! Not ideal flying out there when there is a chance of being turned away and verdict reveresed! Surely eufa compitition, eufa rules! If reveresed this will make a mockery of the rule book ( not that I think we should be there) but opens up any rules in future could be questioned!

2.) Matt this whole appeal bolox just drags on and on. Until it ends for sure we don't know what's going on do we? It's one thing people saying there's no chance of them getting it overturned but as long as it's still alive there is always a chance. I'm getting a bit sick of it all to be honest.

3.) Legia's appeal will be heard on Monday by CAS.
It was official earlier on today.

4.) Yeah TV are reporting the case will be heard on Monday. Fingers crossed the decision is upheld.

5.) To be honest, I think we will be absolutely humped, so would gladly allow legia back in, except for the way they've blamed us for everything.

6.) Let's face it, Johnstone and his mob know all about bending the rules.

Hi ed was glad to see the appeal was thrown but what do you think will happens with the CAS it seems strange that they are above uefa as its there rules and there tournament?

matt231988

{Ed007's Note - CAS Secretary General Matthieu Reeb has said he knows of no precedent by which the Legia decision can be overturned. It's very rare for the CAS to go against any official bodies rulings.}

1.) I can't see this being reversed now. I know how I would feel if the boot was on other foot but the rules are not new so there is no excuse for the mess they are in through their own mistakes.

Ed i'm really worried that warsaw will win their appeal as thwy seem certain they will do you think they will win the appeal and if so what happens from then on as we were seeded in the draw

matt231988

{Ed007's Note - I can't see them winning the appeal.}

1.) Why is anyone talking about this?they broke the rules. If they appeal, so what?unless eufa want to change the rules to let any club play a suspended player for a few minutes to take a free kick eg annd score a goal eg, they have to go by the rules at the minute, I feel sorry for Legia, I was at the murrayfield game, it was'nt very pretty, celtic were so bad, they made warsaw look good, but Legia deserved to go through, but rules are rules.

2.) I agree Ed. The rules and punishment for breaking them are in black and white, no grey area. They have no grounds for a decision reversal. A lot of decisions made by courts, panels tribunals etc may be morally unfair but they are legally sound. This is one of those cases (imo) Hail Hail

3.) Just an afterthought. Do Celtic get any representation at this appeal?

4.) Tim I don't see why CFC would need representation. We are neither the accuser nor the accused. We have no input into the proceedings.

5.) I really hope not but legia seem very confident and claim to have already spoken to platini . ed why do you think it will not happen just ease my mind haha HH

{Ed007's Note - Ed002 is an expert in this kind of thing, nothing's ever a certainty but there's a 99% chance that the ruling will stand.}

6.) Fair comment Chris but we should have a presence to ensure transparency. If (which I find highly unlikely) we get kicked back out then we don't know what was said or done to justify EUFA bending their own rules. I think it's all hypothetical but I just don't trust them.
