I appreciate that any player signing us a 'gamble'.
Ed, I haven't seen anything of either player - do you think that both Baur and Hassan are upgrades on the players currently at CP and can they make an impact at a European level?

{Ed007's Note - Baur can play anywhere in the midfield (6,8 or 10) and a few folk think he will be Engels replacement if he goes but I think it's Hatate's place he'll take, he's 2 footed and supposedly a bit of a dead ball expert, he's a good young solid signing who will only get better imo.
Hassan on the other hand is a bit of a gamble imo, he looked like a world beater at the WC but that can be deceiving as a lot of clubs have found out over the years but we were scouting and trying to negotiate a deal for him long before the WC started. His domestic stats aren't the best but the lad is seriously quick and good with the ball at his feet, he should be fine and prove to be a good signing but he might need time to find his feet and settle.}

I remember oldco bought Oleg solenko after his world cup performance in 1994 and he was a flop. Think he was golden boot winner but all his goals were in 1 game against a diddy team.

{Ed007's Note - Thanks mate but transfers don't work like that especially in this day and age. There's no daily (or hourly) updates to give until something actually happens. All this nonsense about refused & new increased offers is just clickbaiting attention seeking and 99% made up, before social media it was called negotiating a transfer fee.
Do you think Celtic have turned down any offers for players so far this summer? I'd bet my last £ on it, but there's no stories about teams lowballing us etc out there.}

Nice one Ed, I appreciate the detail in your reply.
With these two players signing, I may be wrong, but I'm guessing the club will want to move some players on sson, Kenny, Hatate and one or two others to free up space and wages.
Given past performance, I feel if we are to move forward significantly on the pitch, and bring in the quality of player necessary to do that, the board will want to sell either Engels or Johnston, or both, by the end of this window in order to 'balance the books'.
On another note, I really hope a CDM is signed in the coming weeks.

Hatate and AJ, by any stretch, should bring in around £25M.
If we sign;-
* Baur - MF (£5M)
* Hassan/ Mawinhise - winger (£5M)
* Ferry? - RB (£2M)
* Taylor? - back up LB (£2M)
* Croatian lad - GK (? )
*? - CB
£25M should easily cover those positions and hopefully get us into the CL proper that's worth approx £40M.
We'd have a more than decent side as well as reducing the average age into the bargain.
Probably wishful thinking from yours truly.
