He’s not better than calmac or Engels in central midfield i'm sorry that comment is totally outrageous when he was younger he was a really good winger with no end product now he’s a very poor cdm with injury problems and shouldn’t be getting signed.

If the 'Ox' signs and plays at only 50% of his ability, he'll be better than the rest of our midfield have been this season (IMO) .
We're lacking in the middle of the park and everyone knows it, most importantly MON knows it.
He could well be the difference in close/ big games this season as he's played and won trophies at a far higher level.

I’m sure if he was a really poor cdm frank he wouldn't have played there for arsenal and liverpool and have 35 caps for England haha. His miles better than what we have if fit.

I don’t ever remember him being a cdm? He was closer to a box to box or just a straight up attacking midfielder was he not? He’s definitely not your typical cdm if that’s his position going forward. What I used to like about him was his ability to receive the ball under pressure and turn the player on his back.
If you watch our play, we have had a player do that for years. Hatate tries it more than any of our other midfielders but even he seems to have given up. A midfield that can’t take a man on will never work. Hopefully the Ox can stay fit and make a mark. I Think he’s a cracking signing.

He was a winger at arsenal and Southampton he didn’t play cdm for England either every appearance was on the wing until he was at Liverpool and even then apart from making 30 appearances in one season nearly every season after were substitute appearances after being a chronic sick note he was never a cdm and we have enough injured players we don’t need another one he was once a good winger.
