I like many others have been hyper critical of the Board, and rightly so. This window however is at last looking like how we should operate. Fewer signings but on paper real quality. If we lose Engles and AJ we need able replacements but there is no question we have improved our front line.

A few more in and we should for the 1st time in an age actually be stronger after transfer window. Like Roy Keane says however, no plaudits for folk just doing what they are paid to do.

So if we won the champions league this season we shouldn’t give the players plaudits because they’re job is to win football matches ?
Or just maybe when someone isn’t doing their job good enough it’s our right to criticise just as when someone does a good job we can be grown enough to praise them.

One decent window doesn’t address all the other issues. Still need major changes at this club to ensure this window isn’t a one off. If recruitment done properly we would only need 2/ 3 quality players per window ( because we will lose successful players to richer clubs ) and that would alloy for having a few projects as well.

Infrastructure needs attention, still doing CL media in plastic gazebo etc, and the board can no longer be used as a retirement village.

Yes, for years we've had a bloated squad of players not quite good enough.

Better to have a quality first team with decent back up and use youth players to back them up in minor games or during injury spells.

Rotate the team to keep all squad match fit and content only playing your strongest 11 when absolutely required.

A strong 11 is a good start, if we can develop that to a strong 16 competing for first team places, even better.

Competing in 4 competitions I'd hope the youngsters get a fair crack of the whip as and when.
