How can we still be ‘negotiating’ for the Egyptian? Do they send one email each between clubs on alternate days? Surely both clubs know what they’re prepared to spend and accept, and be able to put a finite date on proceedings where if not concluded end contact and move on.
Get there is a bit more to discuss but jeez oh! Celtic still seem to be an eggs in one basket approach and when/ if that fails, ?

From what I have read, we have agreed a fee and agreed terms with the player.
This would indicate they are now negotiating payment structure and clauses.
However, don't quote me on this, as you never know with our board. ?.

The Algerians wingers club or agent apparently ruined his chances of signing for us by suggesting the dead club offered 2m more than us.
We were in for him at the same time as Hussan and after that story appeared it looks like we walked away, not because we were afraid to get into a battle with them over a player but because there was suggestion that they may have made initial enquiry about him but that was all.
Someone somewhere them threw in that they offered 2m more than us in an attempt to get us to increase our offer. It backfired.
So if these stories are true, we are not putting our eggs in one basket; we are being Celtic and not wanting to pay a penny more than we think we should.
That may cost us Baur which would be a mistake imo.
Sometimes you just need to pay a bit more to get what you want. .
We hold out for what we value our players at and other teams have the right to do that, so we need to include that in our dealings and have some flexibility.

Still doesn’t explain why things take so much “ negotiating “. If say someone offered £10M for Engels, would we negotiate? or just say NO and end the conversation.

Also, why the flake would we do structured payments on transfers if keeping the money in our account would incur higher liabilities with HMRC on capital gains? None of this Shiite makes any sense.

I'd agree MIP,
I don't think missing out on Baur for 'tuppence halfpenny' is a good idea given the time we've already spent negotiating for the player.
He seems to tick a load of boxes and fits into our 'player model' so if it's a difference of a few hundred grand, pay it, and get him in.
CL qualification being worth £40M should be motivation enough for our board to ensure we're best placed to get there.

I sell stuff sometimes. It's either price is the price or some overpricing and then subtle negotiations. That then settles somewhere everyone is happy. If I'm buying and I want it the price is either acceptable or I don't bother and go elsewhere. It's bit complicated.
