Brighton have just signed an 18 year old winger from AIK in Sweden for 28m Euro. The boy has played just 13 senior games in his career with 2 goals.
What chance do we have when this is the money being thrown about for kids. Its ridiculous.
And while this continues elsewhere we will likely haggle with teams in Sweden and the likes for 2m dross in the hope they might make us a few quid in a couple of years.
Its sad how far we have fallen in terms of financial power and its not helped by that frugal old B'tard DD.

The money available to (and splashed by) other Leagues is verging on obscene, However there are many clubs like ours in smaller less affluent leagues that manage very well in their recruitment and that's thanks to something we have lacked for a while.
An efficient and fast-acting Scouting and Recruitment network and a well run Development Academy to discover and nurture real talent. Celtic Football Club has to move with the times and that is something the Desmond Dynasty has fought and resisted for too long.

Just saying to my pal last night we’re linked to sum boy 14 goals in league this season 5th highest in league, so why aren’t we linked to the highest scorer in league why fifth, yes ano it’s paper talk and going to be linked with mega players coming wks (Edd ?) but worrying fact is that’s probably the player our board will be targeting.
with Nicholson still there it’s a worry.

DT,
we haven't been able to compete with the 'financial power' of some of the other leagues across Europe in more than 25 years.
Given when a team in the pub league gets relegated they pick up a 'parachute' payment in excess of £100M, whikst, when we win our league we're lucky to get a scratch card and a box of Monster Munch - hardly comparing like for like.
We need an infrastructure at our club to properly scout, identify and sign young players and bring them through to hopefully keep then at the club in order to build a team to compete in Europe as well as selling a few on after 2-3 seasons and continously upgrading the first team squad.
We've proven in recent years this can be done at times but not consistently, given we've set the bar for the highest transfer fees for players being sold from a Scottish club.
This Celtic board and their total lack of ambition (nevermind all the other issues they've created) is a worry and has already set us back years. Until either the personnel or mindset of the current board changes, nothing else will.
Btw, Nygren is Swedish and tbf, he's done alright.
