To anyone hoping for the club to modernise and change tact, we have just been given the answer.
The appointment of MON tells us that we will not be modernising.
The fact we have no head of recruitment in place, tells us our recruitment will be the same.
The fact our revenue took a major nose dive from being 50 million ahead of Sevco, to being on par with them, tells us we won't be outspending them.
The fact we have the same minority shareholder calling the shots and the same board doing his biding, suggests we won't be seeing a change in strategy.
As I have pointed out, get prepared to be disappointed.

Question - and as hypothetical as they come Joe, if Celtic make a series of signings that look the part and are what team needs, get replacements for impending leavers, would you find it in yourself to get enthusiastic about mon the team and season ahead, maybe even watch a few games on tv? Obv your not expected to change your feelings about the board,

DD, his son and his lackys have removed any joy I once had for Celtic. Hopefully I can get that back one day, but while they remain at the club, I don't see it.

We could outspend them if we wanted joe, if we get the cl money plus st money plus the cash reserve sitting doing nothing plus the money from corporate sponsors retail, again if we wanted we could quite comfortably.
06 Jun 2026 15:32:06
We can't outspend them if we want, as our spending is capped at 70% of our revenue and I don't think there will be much difference in our revenue streams this season. I am predicting both clubs will be around 90-100 million in revenue.
So while we are richer than them, we can't just add the money we have in the bank onto our budget. This is one of the reasons I am absolutely livid with Desmond and the board. We somehow got ourselves into a position were we blew our strongest ever position of strength and allowed our closest rivals to catch up. ?.

Try answer q.
06 Jun 2026 18:09:09
Joe they'll have restrictions are they not on a UEFA watch listv.
06 Jun 2026 18:44:25
Mally they are no longer on that FFP watch list. I think they got taken off in 2024.
@jaa - I did answer the question, I said while the Desmond's are at the. club I don't see my views changing.
{Ed007's Note - I'm not getting into the whole FSR debate, it's actually best not to btw, I've learnt that lesson many times over the years but:
Under UEFA's Financial Sustainability Regulations (FSR), clubs are permitted a maximum aggregate loss of €60 million over a rolling three-year reporting period. This allowance is composed of €55 million in allowable losses covered by owner funding/equity contributions, plus an additional €5 million with no strings attached.
Financial Health Bonus: Clubs demonstrating "good financial health" may be granted up to an extra €10 million in acceptable deviations per reporting period.
So Celtic can use the £ in the bank and it would technically go towards the €60m threshold over the season period. Now that's not a lot of €s to the Pub League or that but that's a hell of a lot of £s in the SPFL over a 3-year period.
Remember the Ibrox confetti shares?}

That’s not why I asked tho.

Mon Joe answer the hypothetical q, we know your views.
06 Jun 2026 22:22:22
For the second, time I did answer the question and said nothing will change my mind apart from Desmond going. So what you asked would not change my mind, as the board have went past the point of no return in my eyes.
Ed you are getting two things mixed up, which is easy to do. What you are talking about is part of FSR and relates to "Football Earnings Rule (formerly "break-even) " but that is separate from the "Squad Cost Rule".
What you say is bang on but only relates to the football earnings rule, which is to ensure that clubs remain solvent and don't overspend and the accounts are done over a three year period.
So while money in the bank can be spent on transfers, it does not change the maximum we can spend on transfers, wages and agent fees, which is 70% of revenue. The accounting period for the squad cost rule is calculated over a 12 month period.
{Ed007's Note - I'm not getting anything mixed up.}
