Greentree, I can’t reply to you as the advertisement is covering the send button on your comment, so apologies for the new thread.
There will always be a faction of every clubs fans who act out of order but it’s up to the fans and the club ourselves to minimize that. You’d think someone would have put their arm round the boy in the shorts and said “mate c’mon, that’s not us. Let’s go get a pint. ”.
The club also knows this type of thing has been happening for years. It’s an undisciplined event that they close their eyes to. How about they change the location, charge a fiver for the foundation, and go to Glasgow Green or shut down the surrounding area at the stadium) get wee Rod and a few other “diehard” celebs to return their ticket favour by singing a few songs or saying a few words, or just creating an event around it in a secure manner? How about the club also man enough security to ensure a pitch invasion doesn’t happen?
We’ve all been harping on about the board all season but yesterday epitomized their inadequacy for me. Once again they’re letting the media hold the narrative. Get yourselves down to Merchant city with the media and show the good parts. Respond to the Hearts statement and thank the security for clearing the field within 5mins but condemn Hearts for leaving and not attempting to finish the game. Point out that several other pitch invasions have happened this year and it’s a bigger football problem.
I’m not disagreeing with you mate, these guys are muppets. However, someone needs to shine a bright light on the club instead of the demoralized SMSM comments. For every 1 muppet acting up I’d like to think there were 1000 people or more doing us proud. Yes, there’s a place for calling these guys out, but there’s also an easy way to solve the clean up, minimize the disruption, and hopefully mitigate the need for a police presence.

Fully agree with the 1 bad egg In amongst a 1000 but as we all know that 1 bad egg always gets highlighted never the 1000 eggs who done us proud.
You make a lot of good points and I agree the club should do more to host some sort of event in and around the stadium but don't want the problems.

While I absolutely don’t condone the behaviour of the Celtic fans yesterday does anybody else think McInnes stoked the flames for this?

I totally agree that our spineless board need to come out and say more.
They always wait until the dust has settled but by that time the narrative is out there.
Yes 1 or 2 were out of order but the total percentage out of 60, 000 who went onto the pitch was miniscule but they should never have been able to do that.
I also agree it is a football problem, not a Celtic problem.
The Trongate is another matter. That is our problem.
How hard is it to go there, celebrate, sing songs and share a love of the club and enjoy our success but no, smash bottles, throw them at the Police and act like thugs.
Again a small group but those are the ones the media are looking for so they can write the negative Celtic stories.
How many stories have you read celebrating our success in the last 24 hours.
They are very few and far between.
Yes we can say who cares we won but it is the reputation of this great club that is being tarnished by a few people.
