I was looking at Beaton’s penalty record for Celtic.
He only gave one penalty to Celtic in 9 years before VAR was introduced and Beaton took forever to give it in our 5-1 victory at Ibrox in 2017.

VAR was introduced in 2021 and he has now given Celtic 6 penalties in the last 4.5 years.
But
5 of those penalties were recommended by VAR.
So basically Beaton has only pointed to the spot Twice for a Celtic penalty in 14 years without the help of VAR.

The other time was at Livingston in September 2023 when Hatate scored the opener in our 3-0 victory.
It was the same match Joe Hart seen Red.

The other games were -
Home to St. Mirren VAR in 2023
Home to Hibs VAR 2024
Ibrox VAR 2024
Rugby Park VAR 2025
Ibrox VAR 2026.

I still have my doubts about VAR - or rather the people who operate it to their own agenda - but although we have a fair amount of 'beefs' about it, there is some solace in cases like that, Buzz.
I also think the presence of live TV coverage may also be a factor?

The issues that exist with VAR in Scotland mirrors the issues around the officiating on the pitch in this country.

If, as in England's top flight, the officials had to declare the team they have an allegiance to in our league, the governing body would have a huge issue as the majority of officials come from the central belt, with an extremely high percentage of those favouring the Masonic Lodge, Orange Order and offcourse, the dead club from Govan.

Until that scenario is remedied, the VAR shenanighans, like the decisions on the park are open to bigoted bias of an anti Catholic persuasion simply because Scotland is a protestant country.

Buzz,

Great stats on Beaton.

It's time the board grew a spine, had an official discussion with WC, and told him we won't tolerate this a minute longer. ?
