Ed, just wondering have you heard anything about a takeover? I haven't but the reason I ask is that we are a very lucrative Club in a very good position in terms of finance albeit our current board are trying there very best to tear our club apart, but surely there must be a consortium looking at us and think we could make a huge difference? Just a question.
Thanks as always.
{Ed007's Note - I don't know mate, there's some rumours that Willie Haughey - the fridge magnate - is trying to put together a group to try and oust DD ?♂️

That would make sense on several levels.
I can't see Willie H, as a Celtic supporter from Glasgow, being happy with what is taking place at the club.
In terms of finance, he's a very rich man, with I'm sure, a wee black book full of very rich friends.
Fingers crossed.

As opposed to A fridge magnet. ?.

God a hope your right Ed he's the right man Willie loves the club.
{Ed007's Note - How did it turn out at Livingston and Queen's Park? I honestly don't care if the people running Celtic love the Club, we're pat that now and need people that will look at us as a business BUT also the potential of what we could (should?) be. We really don't need any individual or Saudi investment funds money, we just need people in place to spend the money we make more wisely and use it to progress the entire Club.
Where's the 1 year, 5 year or even 10 year plan, does anyone in that board room have any kind of vision of where Celtic can/should/be in 10 years time?
The majority will have had their steak pie send off by then!}

You would need about10 Willie Haugheys to get to the wealth of Desmond?.
{Ed007's Note - DD's wealth has nothing to do with it, could Haughey and his people force the LSE's hand with DD's exemption from the 30%+ ruling where DD would need to offer ever single shareholder market price for their shares or sell/dilute his own? That was always a bit weird to me.
We don't need rich owners Stevie - but it helps obviously with connections etc - all Celtic need is people to spend the £ we make more wisely. Putting the current wars aside, if Celtic ever need £ fans will step up.}

Totally agree, Ed. Well said.

My gut instinct is telling me some major change will happen in the coming months either desmond stepping aside or a major clearout of the boardroom. These guys look at Celtic first and foremost as a business and not as fans. As business men they can't be happy with how their "business" is being run.
Other than engels there is bugger all players we have that will get us a substantial transfer fee. That is these guys bread at butter. Big transfer fees are what whets their appetite. This along with 10s of millions lost in CL revenue will be seriously hurting them inside.
And to some extent DD must feel a sense of shame at how fast one of his business' is being run into the ground.
The only way he would stay on and keep this going is he is intentially making a mockery of the club to spite the fans or he is mentally lost the plot.

DD's net worth is approx $2.4B and WH's net worth is approx $525M.
DD's 34.7% shares in Celtic are worth, give or take, £60M (sterling) .
I'd imagine WH could comfortably buy out DD's shareholding, but, I'm guessing he would look to bring in others to spread the risk, add additional expertise and prevent the current dictatorship occurring in the future.
{Ed007's Note - I've had a wee snoop at Haughey's finances the last few weeks and it's a bit cloudy I thought Pedro, apart from the money he's made year on year he sold his personal stake in City Facilities Management Holdings (what the fridge company became) for £640m in 2021 although he still ran the company.
He's definitely not poor right enough and he is funding some of the propaganda in the fan media.}

DT you mentioned the lost CL revenue hurting the board, but for the best part of 20 years that’s been the case and they did nothing about change the scenario.

Ed the difference with Haughey is he'd be there every game we know he's a real fan, he knows football and he'd be more aligned with rhe punters over our never seen landlird.
{Ed007's Note - Why does that matter if the owner attends games, i don't know any other set of fans that care about that. Would you expect US or Saudi owners to be at every game?
But yeah I'm sure the multi- millionaire British Lord will have a lot more in common with the support than an Irish billionaire has.
26 Feb 2026 12:00:55
I would say he does but that's my opinion, he's at most games because he's a genuine fan you'd need to drag Desmond from his first love the golf course.
{Ed007's Note - Aye, OK. I wonder if the fixture computer that helps Sevco out also made sure that Celtic never played when Livingston and then Queen's Park were playing, surely he'd have been watching the clubs he owned or had his money in?}

Ed we just need change mate and haughey imo would be a smart move, regardless of wealth we just need a freshness new blood with new ideas.
{Ed007's Note - 100% mate ???
