The Top 6 this season is going to be a nightmare for the SPFL to work out the post split fixtures.
Falkirk are a certainty for a Top 6 place being 8 points ahead of Aberdeen although the Dons have a game in hand against us but Falkirk still have 5 home games to play on their dodgy pitch before the split.
Only Celtic and Hibs will be due to play 3 home games and 2 away matches after the split.
To finish with 19 home games and 19 away games the other 4 clubs would need to play 2 games at home and 3 away but that’s impossible.
Basically I think 2 Top 6 clubs will finish the season playing 20 home matches and only 18 away games and it won’t be Celtic or Hibs.
Fairness would suggest it should be Motherwell and Falkirk instead of Hearts and/ or Sevco.
I’m sure the head to head games involving Celtic, Hearts and Sevco will stick to the schedule along with Hearts going to Easter Road.
But
That severely narrows down the options to make it a fair fixture list.
Hearts will have played at home twice already before the split against 4 of the 5 clubs with Hibs playing those 4 clubs twice each away before the split.
Motherwell is the only club who would fit the post split fixtures perfectly with them due to play Celtic and Hearts at home with away games against the other 3 clubs but that won’t happen.
Between clubs visiting other clubs 3 times in the same season to -
A couple of clubs which won’t include Celtic will finish the season playing more home games than away matches, it’s a disaster waiting to happen.

And we all know how that is going to pan out!

I'll bet my house on certain Clubs getting a favourable decision with this shambles.
It's time they realised the league split is an utter mess of a system.

The same happened last season with 4 clubs playing 17 home games before the split and only 2 clubs playing 16 home games.
Only ONE club will play 20 home games and only 18 away.
Last season St. Mirren played 20 home games.
That will make it easier to pick either Motherwell or Falkirk this season to play 20 home matches.

Looking at the archives for the last 20 years -
It’s happened 6 previous times.
St, Mirren last year played 20 home games and fortunately for them it’s happened to Aberdeen twice over the years.
Motherwell, Kilmarnock and Hearts have previously had the misfortune of playing only 18 home games and 20 away matches in the same season.
