While I agree that Rodgers has sanctioned the signing of some duds. I think it should be said that Rodgers is not responsible for how much we bid and how much we pay.
Clubs have algorithms that tell them how much a player is worth and how much they should be paid. If we overpay for a player, that is completely down to the board.

The Manager has taken a fair bit of flack around recent performances and our style of play, which at times has been turgid.
He has come out and said it isn't how he wants his team to play, so he is pointing his finger at the players.
So if it is the team, what is going on with them. Why has a fast paced, counter attacking, energetic side, turned into a real boring side.
Is it confidence, or is it we no longer have the players with the speed and ability to break quickly and turn defences.
We still have Maeda on the left, who is fast as we know, but has lost his mojo because he wasnt allowed to leave, and on the right, we had Khun, who when he wanted to, caused so many problems for defences but that was only when he wanted to.
We now have 4 left wingers, 2 new ones, added to Yang and Maeda, and on the right we only have Jamsie.
Nygren who is a right winger now plays where Engels was playing last season in midfield, but not playing better than Engels did.
In the middle I think Kennys workrate could get us goals but is he a number 1 striker. In any case he won't get a chance to put his case forward.
Iheanacho is a total unknown, having not scored in 6 months and Shin will not be given many opportunities either.
Goals will be an issue but it is the middle of the park that concerns me most. Total confusion over who's our best 3 in there.
Hatate looks miles off his best, CM looks off pace and struggling to get control of games, Nygren looks out of place and Engels, Bernardo and McGowan cannot get a start.
The last 3 were our future midfield but cannot get opportunities.
One of the best performances from last season was the younger team we played against the sheep, when we thumped them up there.
My brother in law, a sheep fan, said his team couldn't compete with the oace, energy and movement of our team in that game, and when they beat us in the cup final, he couldn't believe the difference in how we played that day, slow, sideways and predictable.
We look like a team coming to the end of a cycle but many of our players are recent acquisitions, so how can that be.
I am struggling to understand whether it is the players lacking confidence in our front players that they don't move the ball forward quicker or is it a stubborn Manager sticking to his principles and the players that have served him well, like CM and Jamsie.
Whatever it is, it is not working and we need to refresh the starting 11 imo and allow the players the freedom to be risk adverse, play balls over the top, or in behind defenders early, or get it into the box early to put defences on the back foot, give our strikers a chance.
Only the Manager and players can take ownership and turn this around, because the Board have shown them that they are on their own.

Elite managers don't buy as many duds, or agree to take duds at all, regardless of cost. I will back him until the end of the season. He needs to up hus and our game. We still have more than enough. He needs to earn his £3m by getting the team playing great, fast football. Oh, and stopping his team bottling it against Rangers would be nice too. He is off in the summer and its right we start planning now.
