Truly hope our transfer guru the good doctor has started the summer business as the play off games will be tricky, we need to hit the hound running and the earlier the better.

Mally, sadly I do not share your optimism our Board will do what it always does ie SELL one or two big name players moment window opens, then FAFF ABOUT until near end of window, when price of players we want will rise, then they will go for a cheaper player.

Hope not mate, never understood that strategy, gambling with over 40m to be made.

I am always apprehensive about our transfer business - especially in the summer when we have got to be properly prepared and in the right frame of mind. I do foresee a sale or two, but it's worrying that we have had key positions neglected in previous 'windows' that still have to be addressed. Celtic have had 'previous' of not building from a position of strength and it's about time we learned.

Agreed it’s concerning gents. Not been much evidence to date of what the good recruitment doctor has brought to the party since Mark Lawell’s departure. Signings have largely either been identified by Rodgers or pulled out his contact book (Idah, Schmicael, Khun, Schlup Dog, Trusty) or players who were previously here (Jota, Tierney) . Concerning given Rodgers is a coach and recruitment isn’t his bag and not least that north of £15m was spent on centre halves beforehand from which not a centre half can be knitted (Lagerbeilke, Nawrokki, Philips) .

It’s my understanding that Celtic used to openly seek bids for their best players.
However, I think there has a major change in recent years and now players who managers want are encouraged to stay, and it is only if they insist on going that they are allowed to leave .
If the Celtic Board were actively seeking to get offers for our better players we would probably be stripped of over half our team .
I hope that doesn’t happen as our team plays a style of quick passing and running into space to receive pass, it takes quite a period of time to fully integrate players into our system.

JFP. I honesty don’t care who sources the players we sign as long as they are quality players who can adapt themselves to play our system . We have had many decent signings over last few years . Most of the signings that have worked out for us have been roughly similar quality .
The problem still exists that we are buying some players who are simply not good enough for Celtic . its no shame if we buy. the odd player who fails to reach the standard and quality we want, there will always be one or two, but hopefully we manage to keep that number down .
Overall it’s probably a good thing that BR has the final say when signing a player as he is the person who has to integrate players into team.
