Just been reading this.

Would be good here as well.
Particularly the ref having to explain his decision to the fans AND the offside farce where a player's knee over the line can be offside!

OFFICIAL! Here are the 4 NEW FOOTBALL RULES FIFA will study on March 1:
➡️ ARSENA WENGER'S NEW OFF-GAME:
A player will only be called offside if his entire body exceeds the line of the last defender.
So the offside of a few millimeters is over.
➡️ THE DECISIONS OF THE REFEREE EXPLAINED ON THE MIC AT THE WHOLE STADIUM:
After consulting the VAR, the referees will explain their decision with a microphone to all spectators present in the stadium.
➡️ THE CHALLENGER SYSTEM:
Each coach will be able to ask in limited numbers for the use of VAR during the match to review an action they deem controversial.
➡️ THE REFEREE WILL BE ABLE TO STOP THE TIME:
The referees will be able to stop the timer to study a litigation situation or in case of a major injury. Goal: avoid many football time savings and prioritize effective game time.
If these rules are adopted, they will be in effect on July 1, 2025!

The new offside 1, will still come down to millimeters. The attackers full body could be off except for a few mm of his big toe lol.

ALSO, what should happen is that if a player is injured through deliberate means then the player who caused the injury should be out (not playing) for the same length of time that the player who got injured is out for.

I was thinking the exact same Wyllie67.

But there's going to be a helluva lot more goals scored. Both of Cyril Tossers (best striker in the world) goals against Fenercrapche would stand.

{Ed007's Note - I don't think it will be used retrospectively.}

Is there not a new keeper rule being introduced for the length of time they hold the ball?

09 Mar 2025 10:04:04
Yes mally they are increasing it from 6 seconds to 8 seconds and instead of an indirect free kick a corner will now be given.

As the current rule isn't applied I not holding out much hope for this new rule. It will probably happen for a month or 2 before being ignored like the current rule.

It won't come down to millimetres, if there is clear daylight between the players body and the line, then he is offside, if there is no clear daylight between the players body and the line, he is inside, no need to measure anything.

They need to include a 10 second clock on the keepers taking a by-kick and also if he places the ball at one side then he isn't allowed to move it.
