On this day in 1976,
Celtic went to Ibrox in a midweek fixture and won 1-0 thanks to a World Class goal by Joe Craig.

John Greig broke Bobby Lennox's leg with a terrible early challenge and a penalty was given but the linesman flagged for offside.

Jock Wallace surprisingly never gave the players a pre match team talk.
Former Rangers manager and current Vice-Chairman Willie Waddle did the team talk instead.
All he said was,
"You know who your playing today, so there's only one thing to say, No Surrender"

That didn't go to plan.

I can remember being at this game as a youngster when Celtic conceded an early goal.
But McGarvey was on fire against his former club and he scored a hat trick in our impressive comeback victory.

I remember the Joe Craig game at Ipox. I think that was our first victory against them for a while if my memory serves me correctly. Brilliant strike from Joe Craig.

It was our first Premier league victory against Rangers at the 6th attempt and we also failed the win our last 2 Old Division One league games against them.

I was at that game when Lennox broke his leg. It was at the Celtic end (no cover) . To this day I though the ref didn't give a penalty and have cursed him ever since! I didn't know the linesman gave offside.

Great goal by Craig.

I also remember around the same time when we were denied a stone wall penalty and while our players were remonstrating with the ref, they run up the field and scored. The ref gave the goal. we were going nuts! We were refusing to kick off and big Jock had to come on and tell us to get on with it. Can't remember the final score. Too pissed off!

John Greig ran the full length of the pitch to receive a pass to score.

Celtic were denied a second penalty in the 2nd half when a Rangers player handled on the line.
It was the late 1970s and Celtic lost 3-1.
