Guys while CCV has been out injured a reckon he's been missed evn tho league was won. It got me thinking about him in how he plays, not the tallest or quickest in the world but he reads a game well very similar to Willie Miller (dont shoot me) in my eyes who a regard as best sweeper in my lifetime in Scotland and Baressi world wide, whos your fav guys as its a position a don't think gets enough credit.

Best For me it's Paulo maldini, maybe Fabio Cannavaro is a close 2nd. Used to love Lucio when he was at Leverkusen and then Bayern. Best CB from Celtic would be Mjallby or Balde. VVD was nae bad aswell!

Hegarty was good for Dundee Utd alongside Narey.
Aberdeen had Miller next to McLeish.

I’m surprised they all stayed with their clubs for nearly their whole careers.

For me cannavaro for the size of him he dominated the defence and beat bigger strikers to headers.

Baresi I was too young but my dad always said he was the greatest sweeper ever and after watching footage I can’t argue he was brutal in the tackle ? but his brain was phenomenal and I didn’t see maldini at lb but him and nesta together were a force.

The Milan backline of Tassotti, Baresi, Costacurta and mMaldini was practically the Italian defence and I doubt if the super rich teams of today such as man city, psg and the rangers could afford to sign all 4 of them. How much would that backline cost today?

Big George Connelly wasn’t bad either. Although his career was all too short he was the player I admired most at Celtic . Whether it was midfield or centre defender George was absolutely class .
