Heard we started the bidding at 4/ 11d and had to take it up to £1/ 6/ 3d before they played hardball and the Board had a meeting and had to open the strings a bit.

This happened last year with Idah when we apparently put in a low offer and people on here saying pay Norwich the money, we did, and now the same people say he wasn’t worth it!
Should we always pay what a club asks? There has to be give and take.
The press have really ramped up there headlines about us low balling and offers which are laughable whilst linking Rangers with £10 million players and wonder kids. Time will tell who has the best window!

Mr Mojo. Maybe if Celtic had been serious last season with Idha bids we could have had a sensible deal done earlier in the window. Instead wee Kyogo got injured, Rodgers wanted Idha and Celtic played over the odds for a brutal football player. Now we will lose millions on Idha and have to play our winger to cover his shortfall.

Totally disagree Auf and think that's very harsh. I was for the signing of Idah purely because we knew what we were getting. He was a different type of player than Kyogo and scored some big goals for us. that's the money you need to pay for a striker. You'd have been moaning if we didn't sign him at that price.

I don't remember anyone saying 'pay the money' at 10 million for Idha.
At 3.5 to 5.00 people were saying just pay it but most fan were in total disbelief when we paid that fee.

Henriks tongue. The noises I'm hearing that's coming out of parkhead. I'm closer with my views on Idha than yours. .
{Ed007's Note - Let's look at our previous £9 million striker Edouard, he came in on a season long loan, made 29 appearances scoring 11 goals as back up to Dembele and everyone was delighted we spent the money to sign him as Moussa's replacement. The following season as our main striker Edouard scored 23 goals in 52 games, 5 goals in 13 games in Europe.
Idah came in on a 6 month loan, made 19 appearance and scoring 9 goals, we bought him and in his first season as mostly a back up striker he's scored 20 goals in 53 games and 3 in 10 in Europe.
By this time next year Idah will have scored 50+ goals for Celtic.}

Those striker's you mention Ed. Can control a football and hold up a football. We will see if Idha is a Celtic player this time next year. Did Eddie or Mossa fly back to Ireland for a bevvy session during Pre-season. Was a day off mind you.
{Ed007's Note - I doubt Dembele or Edouard had much interest in going to Ireland on a day off, they more likely would fly to France if they were going anywhere, maybe even a day out shopping/eating etc in London.}
