Just seen that Elijah Just has scored 2 goals for NZ v Iran.
He is tried and tested in our domestic league. I would happily bring him in, he's got something about him.

After the WC you will probably need to add on another few million to get him.

No doubt our dilly dallying in the transfer market will be our downfall again. We'll be scraping around the loan market come the end of July.

If justs performance against Iran put his value up then tahirovic and basics for bosnia must then go down as both where pish.

DRB ???.
Need to remember it was against Iran. This World Cup is so diluted with mediocre teams that its highly likely lots of players will have a good game or two.

All those ‘mediocre teams’ earned the right to be there through qualification. Would you prefer invite only like the way CL was heading? In that medium, Celtic fc wouldn’t even reach the mediocre level with the attitude of the current board.

Tournament has been diluted so in response to your point 16 extra teams have not earned the right to be there.
They have been given a pass, hence why 8 of the best 3rd place teams will qualify from a group of 4 teams. Another pass for failure in my eyes.
Should never have changed it, World Cup should be the best of the best.
As for Celtic, current squad is mediocre and when AJ, Engels and Maeda leave I fear the quality of replacements. I also fear for MON in the champions league if we make it and he is not backed.
{Ed007's Note - What shouldn't they never have changed from? The first WC I remember in '82 was 24 teams and that was an expansion on the 16 that had taken part since 1950, up until then only 13 teams played in it.
I remember people moaning when it went from 24 to 32 and France '98 as well.}

Too many competitions becoming elitist and sod everyone else. My main pisser is CL. Still can’t believe the headline I saw a few months back regarding Bournemouth in the pub league - “is a sixth place finish good enough for a CHAMPIONS league spot “ WTF?
{Ed007's Note - Yeah the CL isn't great but the new format is definitely better for us "smaller" clubs imo.
As for the WC, I don't have much interest in international football and I am trying to get into it but I think the more the merrier should be the case for the main tournaments.}

World Cup needs to go back to 24. I was only 10 when I watched my first World Cup Italia 90 and also enjoyed the USA 94.
Wasn’t even aware that France 98 was increased to 32 but then at 18, that was last thing on my mind ?.
I’d also love the champions league to be just that, the champions league and the other 2 comps can be the big 36 team league table.
{Ed007's Note - So how many teams would you want in the CL group considering UEFA have 55 full members if it's champions only?

Was it not 32 teams, 8 groups of 4. Top 2 qualify and knock out stages from there onwards.
Top 24 leagues champions get group stage and the rest play qualifiers, lower leagues maybe play a couple of qualifiers.
Champions retain their spot regardless of whether they win their league.
Obv ain’t going to happen as it’s all about the money.
The only competition I’d want increased is the SPL. Just get 2 leagues. Top league 16-18 teams and 2nd league 18-20 teams.
I get that will leave some clubs out the leagues but I would expect some clubs are near to going under.

In football terms, 2 Scottish Leagues of 20 teams makes absolute sense and would share the money about a bit more evenly. As we all know though, this has about as much chance of happening than me getting a phone from NASA saying they want me to run the next Mars mission.
The 4 games a Season against the deady bears is the only thing that generates much interest from our neighbours South.
If they had stayed dead, that would have been a perfect time to have a major overhaul of Scottish Football which could have seen some of the Championship Teams get access to bigger budgets and improve their teams and infrastructure.
The SPFL are purely commercial and have no interest in the good of the Scottish game and were probably just as sick as the rest of the media to watch us lift the title again.
