Rangers FC started the DOS EBT’s ( Wee Tax Case )
just after Advocatt bought the 1999 Treble with one of the most combined transfer amounts in Europe that season.
That was the days before Summer and Winter Transfer windows.

The “Wee Tax Case” information was withheld from the Kangaroo LNS inquiry which was set up by the SFA.
Why did the SFA have the LNS inquiry before all the evidence from the Supreme Court Verdict was confirmed, which Rangers lost 3-0?

Also Strange considering the SFA President at the time of the inquiry Campbell Ogilvie was the Rangers FC Secretary who signed off those DOS EBT’s in 1999 and also the EBT’s from the “Big Tax Case” which started in 2001.

Only In Scotland.

The “Wee Tax Case” information was withheld from the Kangaroo LNS inquiry which was set up by the SFA.

Exactly buzz.

The likely reason is that the Wee Tax Case had already been considered in court, where it was determined that Rangers had operated the scheme improperly. However, during the LNS inquiry, the Discount Option Scheme (DOS) was treated in the same way as the Employee Benefit Trusts (EBTs) . This meant the ruling was based on the assumption that both arrangements were comparable, despite the legal findings distinguishing them. As a result, the inquiry’s conclusions were arguably founded on an incomplete or false premise, since the DOS had already been judged to be unlawful in a way that would not have been permissible for other clubs.

Cheers Joe for clearing that up.
I always thought they were different schemes altogether.

sorry buzz, I may not have been clear.

I was agreeing with you that the details of the wee tax case had been with held from LNS and you were not mistaken as the DoS and EBT schemes were different schemes.

I was merely pointing out that the details of the wee tax case were withheld because it had already been through the courts and oldco Rangers were found to have misused the scheme and had been hit with a 6million tax bill.

Despite this being the case, LNS treated the DOS scheme the same as the EBT scheme and then said Oldco had not gained a sporting advantage, as all clubs could have used these schemes without breaking tax laws, which was clearly false due to the DoS scheme already having been deemed a violation.
