I noticed last night we were again back to the one touch passing, often to players in worse position, or to no one at all.
I've said before, look at the Motherwell midfield, constantly on the move, willing to hold the ball and take a few touches until a good pass opens up. They also run with the ball and run into space without it.
Compare with our CM and RH who jog about playing first touch passes, normally backwards and seldom move after passing. CM obviously thinks the gap between the two CBs is his "bit" and reluctant to go forward. He obviously thinks he is screening the defence but I honestly think he is bringing pressure onto it. Get yer arse up the pitch and leave the defending to the defenders. Maybe would help Scales keep his position rather than following his man up the park leaving his CB partner exposed.

Much of our play worries me and the 'blind' passes and punts annoys me and gives possession and incentive to even the worst opponents. The fannying about at the back usually involving Tierney, Scales and McGregor is still going on; causing unnecessary pressure and errors. Throw-ins 'up the line' also favours the opposition more often than not as does failing to leave a out-ball at corners.
Apart from that MON keeps getting results with a group of players that lack quality on some areas, but have great determination that are grinding out results during a season of much turmoil and uncertainty. Well done.

When a team presses you high up the pitch, you either need to be great technical footballers to pass through it, or hit long balls over the top of it to turn the opposition.
Given the current lack of quality in our squad, I'm comfier seeing the latter. However, we need our midfield to push forward as well to compete for 2nd balls. McGregor's reluctance to do this leaves us a man down in an already weak midfield and results in loss of possession more often than not.

There weren’t enough players taking charge of possession. That’s the hottest tottie I’ve ever seen last night. Even with time to turn or time to stride into space people just offloaded the ball to whoever was the easy ball and no one really tried to penetrate. An on form Hatate or Engels exploit that usually.
Mccowan was not brave at all in possession which I feel we needed last night to boss the midfield. Great 3 points though - conditions were poor and the pitch wasn’t great. Saying that Aberdeen in pockets passed the ball like prime Ajax at times.
