Would love to hear others thoughts on Ben Summers getting further first team opportunities.

There is hardly a pin head of difference between the ability, especially in the untrained eye of a supporters between a player who can make the transition from under -age football and into first team squad permanently . Sometimes it can take a bit of luck with injury to a key first team player often opens the door for the youngster to stake his claim .
I appreciate that many fans on here reckons going out on loans and getting first team opportunities even at a club playing in. league / leagues below us is the way forward, however I am not so sure as I think taking the youngster away from the manager’s disadvantages and lessens the opportunity to play when there are first team injuries.
Did K Tierney not get his opportunity through injuries to our left back and didn't K T step up and grab his chance with both arms .
I think Ben Summers is probably in the same position, if he goes out on loan, he could well be sold, if he stays at Celtic he will almost certainly need injuries to open up pathway for him . I have a feeling if he gets a little bit of consecutive game time, he could certainly make it at Celtic.

Tierney wasn't even getting a game for the youth team when he had the opportunity to train with the first team due to injury. He was left behind because he was third choice left back at the time and then got a chance to train with the first team.

In this day and age luck can be just as important as talent.

At least you have wrote Buzzbomb properly.
My Username looks daft with a gap.

Did you know Ben Summers played a young Tommy Burns in his documentary when he was a young lad playing for Celtic Boys Club?
He got picked to play the role because of his bright red hair.

Can't see summers making it I thought young mccardle would be the next youngster to break through.

I'm with you on that one Mally. I liked Summers about a year or two ago and the Austria Vienna coach also rated him, but in the last two friendlies he played I didn't see any desire or hunger from him. The midfield is ferocious at the moment for someone trying to break in and that's why I don't think he's one for us. An Aberdeen or Hibs may bring out his talent and I hope for his sake it does.

In respect of Ben Summers future development, we loaned out Ryan Christie to Aberdeen years back, he returned to be a very good player and has done a decent job down south. Summers should be afforded a similar opportunity.
