Edd, can you clarify something for me mate, av seen that Celtic have signed Isaac English from my local team Morton to b put into our B team. would we be allowed for him to say to go back to Morton with a cpl of more hopefuls to get btr experience and employ a full time coach at Morton as well to help with there development, Morton (example) ano aren't cash rich so would probably take all the help they can.

{Ed007's Note - I don't know how keen the Morton management team would be having a coach forced on them - would you have liked Man City to send a coach up when we were loaning players - but there's no reason the rest couldn't happen. There's been a recent rule change by the SFA and Celtic are trying to get a partnership going with Queen's Park where they can borrow up to three young players at a time that are eligible to play for Scotland.}

To b honest with you Edd a wouldn’t mind another coach coming in with fresh ideas, the reason am saying a team like Morton is unLike us they are struggling financially so am sure board and management would welcome free help and experience. But hopefully the Queens Park thing comes of and gives the young boys btr experience thanks.

{Ed007's Note - ????

Read that it's the first transfer fee Morton have received in 11 years.

Wow didn't realise that, same as Edd pointed out yesterday that Scott Brown only plAyed 4 times fir Hibs?.

{Ed007's Note - That was when he was the same as Lennon Miller, not it total.}

Not really answering your question, but there are changes happening in Scotland that should help with player development. It’s called the Cooperation System and it kicks off this season.

As part of the new setup, Celtic will be able to partner with a club in League One, League Two, or the Lowland League. We’ll be allowed to register up to three under‑21 players with that partner club, and those players can move freely between the two teams throughout the season, not just during transfer windows.

This means they’ll get regular game time in a competitive environment while still staying closely connected to us. We can easily monitor their progress, give them access to our coaches, sports science, and medical staff, and even bring them back for important matches if needed.

{Ed007's Note - That's what I'm talking about Joe ????but the way I read it HERE is that it's a pyramid system and Premiership clubs can partner with Championship clubs, hence the links with Queens Park.}

Good replies, hopefully give our young boys the competitive games that they need.

Cheers ed, I had only skim read it at the time and must have missed the part that we could partner with championship clubs, which makes it even better.

My guess is we would then work with queens park and we would put forward out 3 best players and see if that fits with their current squad. No point sending them a striker if they already have 3 good ones, much better sending someone who will get game time.

{Ed007's Note - We can also send youngsters to teams in the lower leagues as well, I'd much prefer our teenagers played in our League One than that Lowland League. I'd actually prefer if we scrapped the B team playing in that Lowland league and we just sent our youngsters out using these partnerships, the problem with that though is getting them back together and who they would play as a team.
Until the SPFL get their finger out and make it compulsory that at Premiership level at least clubs must put a team into a proper reserve league, don't forgot it was the Ibrox club that withdrew from the reserve league which allowed others to do the same, that should never have been allowed.}

There is still a reserve league for the SPFL but admittedly I don't know much about it.

{Ed007's Note - It's a complete joke though, Joe. For the 2024-25 season, six clubs participated in the SPFL Reserve League - Dundee, Dunfermline, Kilmarnock, Livingston, Queen of the South & Queen's Park (Airdrieonians, Ayr United & Hibernian withdrew) - teams played each other twice across the season so 10 games in total. Queen's Park won their second successive title with a points tally of 19.

I never knew there was a reserve league in Scotland.
I can understand clubs that can’t afford to participate but it’s strange a club like Celtic refuse to get involved.

Most people don't Buzz and I must admit I was surprised to find out there was one too, after many years of believing there wasn't.

I like the idea that we can loan players out, and bring them back outside of transfer windows and play them if needed .
Previously it was only our better youngsters that were wanted by clubs playing in a league not much below standard of SPL .
With injuries and illnesses throughout season we often had to put someone on bench whilst having a better player out on loan . Now we can take the best player we have and, at least give him minutes off the bench and it also let's BR and coaches see him in training and note if he is improving at a good rate.
